I agree that they are a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. The last I read about the all weather rifles they were hard chrome and painted wood stocks.

Great point. Painted wood and chrome are not my idea of all weather guns, especially painted wood. It still cracks and gets gouges like any other wood stock and if it's only applied, externally, it does nothing to prevent swelling/contracting in changes of climate. That's the whole point of going with a synthetic stock. Chrome plating on the external metal metal parts still doesn't protect the bore, not to mention it almost guarantees an irregular finish on external parts. Calling such a gun "all weather" is a marketing ripoff. Good way to cover up reject parts that wouldn't otherwise make the grade on the steel and wood versions.

I have to disagree. My all weather 45/70 is beautiful in my opinion. Finish and function is superb. I had my choice of all weather or standard. Had both in my hands. If it's not your thing then that is fine but to call it sub par and made of reject parts is just wrong. It's not "painted" either. I will take care of it like any other gun I own but this gun is made to survive use and abuse in harsh conditions.

Sorry, no offense intended. Wasn't referring to the Henry, specifically. Rather to some other guns I've seen on the market. My mistake.

For Mistered. The stock is made of wood with an almost black stain that still shows some grain. It appears to have a very durable finish.

I have nothing against the All-Weather, I think the point was more of comparing a solid material to a coated finish. Which, Henry advertises the barrel and receiver as being "Chrome Plated". But, it has a lifetime warranty. So, maintaining it should not be an issue.

I seen the President of Henry in a commercial tonight. First time I noticed that. I guess he is pushing for more sales. I thought Henry's hands were already full. Maybe not.

I typically see a Henry ad on the INSP network during westerns but it is relatively informative and not at all 'high-pressure' .

Yes. He covered all three categories: "Hunter, shooter or collector, there is a Henry for you." I was watching One America News. So, it seems the commercial was targeted for a particular group (those trying to keep up on what is going on with America). And of course, he mentioned his personal guarantee. Not implying it was a bad thing. Just have not noticed it. Now that I am thinking about it, I do not recall any commercials about firearms. Maybe, there were a few. But, I am not recalling them. I guess he may be leading the way: firearms are not a bad thing. Then again, I do not watch that much TV either.
