Ok, so here is a website of a local guy near where I live who sells some different brands. He's into CAS. If I was looking to purchase a good 45 Colt caliber revolver, do you folks see anything here worth looking into? Keep in mind that handguns are "restricted" in Canada, I need to get my permit (takes a day to do the course, then wait 40 days by mail) and I cannot buy from the USA and have shipped into Canada. Rules, rules, rules!

My hands aren't that big (as big as Trump's ) but the Bisley grip seems to fit me better.

I don't have any issue with rapping my pinky around though. They say it actually helps with recoil; not an issue with my Rough Rider

First, I'm don't fully understand the question "a good partner for the Henry Big Boy 45C?" Does that me primarily the same caliber? Or is it a style of handgun? And second, what is the purpose you'll use this "partner" for? That would seem another important Q to answer.

Saying all that hooey (as Jimmy Stewart used to say), if a derringer will fit the bill, I can share with you my experience with my Bond Arms derringer. It is a very quality-made, solid stainless steel derringer -- and very easy to shoot. I had a Snake Slayer with a 3-1/2" .357 barrel. My choice as it is offered in .45 Colt/.410 caliber. In fact, you can get almost any caliber you want by simply buying another barrel. Easily interchangeable.

Anyway, I'd suggest the step above my Snake Slayer to the Snake Slayer IV. That's because it has a longer barrel of 4-1/4", which provides a higher velocity plus better management of recoil And to "partner" calibers with your Henry, I'd order the barrel specific to the .45 Colt caliber, and not dual use with the .410. The rifling is different, and will shoot longer with the .45 Colt design only.

I'd look over the Bond Arms website, but that would be the configuration I'd suggest. What I can say is, that I wouldn't hesitate an instant to buy one of these derringers. Like I said, quality to the max and easy to shoot. I might add, very fun to shoot, too. BTW, another plus for me is how simple it is to maintain this derringer. Last, you would find the Bond Arms CS to be excellent, as well. Not at the Henry level, but Gordon Bond (we've emailed) is most helpful to his customers.

I am sure TGR will be able to give you some hands on experience. I have a Uberti.22 revolver and it is very well made. I have handled both of the Cimmaron Thunderer, and Lightning models. They felt great it was hard to leave the shop without one.
I tend to be drawn to the blued guns with color case hardened finish and brass trigger guard and back strap.

If he is going to shoot SSAS or CAS he will need 2 pistols and shotgun . I like the Uberti / Cimarron / Taylor for match guns they are ready to go . If he is going to use it for hunting too get the Ruger old Vaquero or Blackhawk can handle super hot hunting loads . In Ruger 45 LC be careful they have chamber sizing problems . Sorry. I was not clear. Just looking for recommendations on a 45 Colt revolver that would be for range use. We can't pack them in the back country in Canada. I like the Model P as well. Thks.

Let me be 100% clear I would never ever move to Canada . Gun control and it is too cold up there . I did know you can't hunt with a handgun . When you are in bear country are you allowed to carry pepper spray to spray yourself in the eyes so you can't see the bear attacking you and ripping your face off ....

Maybe you can hunt with one; don't know for sure. But I know a permit is required to transport every time. The CAS guys here shoot them at matches so obviously people here have 'em, and they sell them in stores. But it ain't Texas. We do have awesome maple syrup though.

There is got to be a law against putting tire chains on a Miata ... I don't drive the Miata or Mustang if it rains . My Mustang has never been washed or rain on since I got new in Jan 2011 .

The last horse I rode was in 1954 . I owned over 10 horses at one time in 1967 and never rode any of them in 1 yr I was in the horse business .

Now that something I never knew and I almost bought a new Ruger Vaquero in 45LC (Model 5101). But mainly because of Ammo costs, I went with a 357/38 instead (Model 5106). Although I only shoot 38's in it.

I have two sets of chains for my Ford Bronco II. It will go anywhere in the snow. May not go very fast but it will go.

Uberti makes excellent Colt SAA clones. If you can afford a real Colt, you can't go wrong with the best. If Ruger New Vaqueros are available, they also make excellent CAS guns. They look similar to Colt SAA's but have different innards that tend to break less often.

just looked up a bunch of info on Pietta....gets good reviews, high quality Colt clones, and reasonable price here. Love the 1873 7.5" barrel...

I can say I've owned over 20 Pietta SA guns in my life and I have only have 1 now . This is my opinion I feel the Uberti was better gun . I found the parts in a Pietta softer and wear out quickly and I think the Uberti top of the line . At one time Uberti SA part were used to build Colts . Pic # 1 is my Cimarron / Uberti and the other 2 pic are Pietta . The 1873 ML were Pietta guns and I notice super fast wear and I had to heat treat the part with Hard-N-Tuff to stop the wear . Now remember I shot at 1 time I shot over 20 times more ammo in a gun then most people .
