April 23 gun shows

I hit two small shows Saturday. One was at Shippensburg, Pa. and the other at Center Hall. Both shows were much better than the last few. I got a good buy on a 1000 CCI bench rest primers for small rifles. Bought some 30/06 once fired Rem. brass cheap. My friend bought some reloading tools for decent prices. Then we went to the second show. As soon as we got in there I saw a lot of bullets for reloading on a table. Turned out it was some bullets I haven't seen in years for .224 caliber. Remington 50gr Power Lokt Match bullets There was 15 boxes and the guy said he would let me have them for $11 a box if I took all of them. So I bought them all and 1500 of them will last a while. Got 5 boxes of 55gr. Hornady also for $11/box. Four boxes of factory loaded 150gr. 30/06 at $15/box. I then found some new take off wood for 39A Marlins. It is the checkered walnut from late '90's. Got a good buy on it and it came home along with a NOS butt stock for a 1897 Century Limited Marlin. I can use the Century butt stock along with the fore arm from the other wood and make a nice checkered set for one of the wife's 39A's. So these shows made up for a string of bad shows of the last few weeks. Almost for got I also got a El Paso made Weaver C4 that looks to be new and never mounted on a rifle. Very clear and not a mark on it with the dove tail mount on it. Feels like the adjuster covers have never been off.

Either of the butt stocks' wood is beautiful, Bandit, but the right one is exceptional.

Stay away from the big shows and try the small fire hall shows. Friendlier folks to deal with and will usually take reasonable offers. I have scratched the shows like Harrisburg and all Pittsburgh area shows off my list. I can buy new for what they want for used that is some times used and abused.

Like all shows you have to root around and pick and choose.

Glad you found some stuff you can use. I plan on hitting the Gettysburg show at the end of may. Hoping the same powder vendor is there as last time. He had a big selection. He also had some decent deals on older bagged bullets. I bought a couple of bags of Hornady JHP's from him.

I have a bud on here that has an M1 carbine. He hasn't been able to find magazines that weren't imported junk. I found him some mil surplus WWII vintage mags still in paper and cosmoline. For less than the price of the junk. They have functioned flawlessly.
