New Henry Addict
Hi all,
I'm fairly new to Henry's, I've always been more of a bolt action person. A friend of mine purchased a beautiful Henry 45-70 last Winter. I shot it twice and fell in love with it. Such a sweet and smooth shooting gun. I decided I had to have one someday. Then this past Fall the same friend bought a Golden Boy, and I liked that even more. So much so that I bought one at the very next gun show I went to. My favorite gun to shoot by far. Yesterday on impulse I bought a 45-70. I walked into the LGS and it called my name immediately and 30 minutes later I was walking out the door with it. Won't be able to shoot it for a few weeks, but I can't wait to. I'm sure there are more Henry's in my future, safe to say I'm hooked.
Tom

Re: New Henry Addict
welcome indeed .... congrats on both of your first Henry rifles .... which model 45-70 did you purchase ..
.. I'm looking forward to your range and use reports .... we have a Henry Color Case Hardened 45-70 that is truly a fine rifle .... in a way, it has a split personality ..
.. load it to the max and it can kick like a mule, while doing so it can take down any critter on the North American Continent; as well as, all of Africa's "Big 6" .... load it with Cowboy Action level ammo and it can be truly fun to fire .... please take a look at our How Many ? thread (link below) and add your Henry to our community total .... as you add to your collection, please revisit that thread and add them

Welcome from the Show-Me-State, CubsFan.
OK, making sure I have this straight.
The GB is your favorite gun to shoot; before that you shot a .45-70 only twice and fell in love with it; then you impulse-bought a .45-70; finally, you are now certain you are hooked on Henrys.
Yes Sir, you have joined the correct Forum. You will be immensely supported in all of the above by the Henry Forum Folk!!
Enjoy your Henry rifles.

Re: New Henry Addict
Thanks all for the welcome. My 45-70 is an H010B. I'm pretty sure my friend has the H010CC. His is much prettier, but mine looks really nice along side my Golden Boy. At this point in time I'm intending to just use it for plinking. I'm pretty set with my bolts for hunting. But if I like it enough, who knows. I'll check out the How Many thread.
Thanks,
Tom

Re: New Henry Addict
the brass Henry rifles are truly great looking .... will you be using factor ammo or loading your own .... with a brass butt plate, you might want to consider Cowboy Action level ammo .... what type of big game hunting game do you go aftercubsfan102003 wrote:My 45-70 is an H010B..... Welcome from Colorado. The brass 45-70 is a looker for sure. But I have the CC 45-70 and the all weather. Im a softie and like the recoil pad. The brass model has an ouch facter with the big boomers in 45-70 that this old guy doesnt care to feel.

Very nice photo! Both rifles have some fine-looking wood furniture.
What is the stock emblem on your GB? Can't quite make it out in your pic...

Re: New Henry Addict
PT7,
It's National Wild Turkey Federation. I didn't seek that out specifically, just wanted a GB and this was the first one that presented itself. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of that. I don't really understand why a Turkey emblem would be on a .22, but the quality and beauty of the rest of the gun allows me to forgive the extra stuff on it.
Thanks,
Tom

If it becomes a problem, you can get the padded sleeve that slips over the stock. My friend put one on his 12 gauge and it made a world of difference.JEBar wrote:cubsfan102003 wrote:... with a brass butt plate, you might want to consider Cowboy Action level ammo .... what type of big game hunting game do you go after
