Last range outing

Even though I haven't been on the HRF for quite a while, I'm not surprised that the person who immediately wants to see a range report is Ranch Roper!

Glad you are back. Now let's see some shredded targets!

In my first post after the long time being away from the Forum, I wrote that after my wife passed away, "As far as my firearms and knife hobbies, I lost much interest in both, and came close to letting my gun cabinet and knife collection go by the wayside." I'm glad now I didn't quit, and have taken my Henry SGC in .22LR to the range the first week of each month this year. Getting back up to speed, which is easy to do with this very sharp-shooting carbine.

So first, I'll re-introduce the only Henry rifle now in my gun cabinet. I bought my SGC two years ago this week (3/11/16). What really attracted me to this model was that Henry and Skinner Sights collaborated on the production and built it with a receiver-mounted ghost-ring rear sight. I've kept it totally Henry stock, other than asking Andy at Skinner to do a special order for me. I replaced the blued Skinner ghost-ring with an identical sight made in bronze. This really made the SGC look classy to me. Here are a couple of photos I took when I added the bronze sight.

I went to the MO Dept of Conservation outdoor range last week at Parma Woods. My goal that day was just to have fun shooting the SGC at a somewhat farther distance. I always shoot off hand, and shot out to 50 yards and 75 yards. Here are my POI results.

Not top-notch shooting, but I did have a lot of fun. The early March day was pleasant with temp in upper 60s and wind @ 18mph. Shot Rem 40gr PLRN ammo only.

OK for this range report. I'm now looking forward to Ranch Roper's next display of his "shredded targets!"

Well, I guess you met you goal. That is typically my goal as well. The more times I hit the target, the more fun I have. It looks like you had lots of fun! Keep shooting and having fun! That is my plan. Happy shooting!
