Here's a shout out to the P.O. Had trouble on a delivery from Skinner. It was tracked to me but I never received it. Called Skinner, said give it a week and they would replace. Gave me some ideas on to find it and said the local P.O. has GPS locations on some types of mail as to where it was delivered. I went out side to do some work of the car and I saw our local delivery person, Ersin. I told him the problem. Turns out he was sick the day of delivery and sub driver took the route. Never drove the route before. Ersin was having a lot of complaints from his customers about miss delivered mail. He gave me the name of his sup and number and said he could look it up. In the mean time, he would keep a look out for it in the mail boxes in my complex. I went back inside, made some coffee and got ready to call when there was knock on the door. My mail guy was standing there with the missing piece. 10 minutes tops and he had found it. Outstanding! He said he just looked in the usual places mail could be delivery in out door mail boxes by mistake. Especially mail boxes that aren't being used as of yet.
I told him he could never be absent from work anymore. This is second time he has help me with a problem. It is a good idea to get to know your mail guy or girl. A very good idea.

Called his boss and let him know about Ersin. His boss apologized for the missed delivery and did confirm that they can GPS mail. Said he was not surprised about Ersin.

I have lived in this house for 29 years and have had the same carrier. Over the years I've gotten to know her and she knows I'll always let her use the rest room. You would be surprised at what a carrier knows about people.

Over the last thirty one years in this house, I've made a deliberate effort to introduce myself whenever we get a new carrier and always address him/her by name. It's an invaluable relationship. In CT, these folks work in all kinds of lousy weather, from unbearable heat and humidity to dangerous freezing rain, ice, and snow. I appreciate it.

I had a great guy who walked his rounds when I moved into my first house. Pete. I gave him a bottle of scotch that first year. Next year he retired. We never had the same mail carrier for more than a year after that. Now, at my current home, it comes by truck and larger packages are walked up the driveway to the house. I always wave if I am outside when they drive up, but it's not the same person all the time.


I think it's great that you contacted the supervisor to tell him how good your carrier was. It's important to do that.

We have had our same guy for two decades. We had a snotty female when we first moved in, and she made the mistake of tangling with Tina. Tina had put up our box according to the postal regs the local postmaster gave her. This carrier told her that SHE wanted the box moved to x location. Tina told her it was per USPS regs. The gal told her she wouldn't deliver another piece of mail until that box was moved.

The gal was moved to a new route and we got andrew. He and Tina swapped cell numbers. Each year, he gets a small package at Christmas. She calls if she expects a special package, he calls before starting his route... she drives in and picks up the fertile eggs at the post office... lol. Normally the only time we have issues will be when he has a day off, or is on vacation. If he accidentally makes a rare mistake, we call / text his cell. He makes things right. Win/win for everyone.

I'm with Dave, our carrier seems to change frequently (not to mention I move frequently).

Agreed it was a nice gesture to put in a good work with his supervisor.
