Feed issue with 94 AE

Hi everyone
A friend of mine just bought a 94AE in .357 and we took it out to shoot earlier. Its from around the early nineties. Looks great, sweet shooting but it Seems to have a problem feeding. No jams at all but every other shot the carrier didnt come up with the round, just stayed down with the round sitting in the carrier. Anyone have any idea why? Everything looks ok just wont feed the cartridge . I have heard a lot about the .357 jamming up but not this issue.

Model 94s are notorious for not picking up another round unless you firmly complete the lever cycle. That very last little bit at the end of the lever stroke is what picks up the next round. As they say, on a 94, you gotta work that lever like you mean it. See if that cures the problem.

The other possibility is that the gun is out of timing. For that, you need to go to a gunsmith that really knows the Model 94.

Thanks for the info as ever north country gal , on further inspection it seems the ejector pin is a bit chewed up. Trying to source one over here, not sure that is the cause of the problem but it needs doing anyway so the search begins for parts.
I will post a pic soon of my 1922 , long barrelled 94. In bits at the moment having a good clean but shoots like a dream. Had a couple of minor issues but it had been greased up and left in a cabinet since 1960!

If your friend has anymore problems with his 94AE let me know - I owned one and had about every problem with it they are known to have!

Hi mistered, thats great and thanks my friend. every other time you rack the lever it wont feed a round , have to move the lever two or three times to get it to bring a round up to the chamber, still have that problem. No idea why it is not feeding, no jams.
Stripped it down and noticed ejector is chewed up but would that affect feeding?
