I agree, but right now the Toyota's have the advantage. They must be doing something different or have something different that the others don't have, yet legal to boot.

And I'm not a fan of the Brand, lol, but I do like a lot of the drivers that so happen to drive for them.

Im not a fan of Toyota either. I think Nascar should be an American race. I wish Dodge was back in it but maybe they don't see the need to be there with the fan base shrinking. Al

Toyota builds just as many if not more cars in America than any of the big 3 auto makers. Toyota is an American car company. BTW, I always root for Chevrolet to win, but a Toyota has some great drivers also.

Honda builds cars here Nissan builds cars here and so do other foreign companys but they are not American car companys. The origin is Japan. Al

I agree and I looked it up anyway just to see what it said for the heck of it, but just found this in a quick search:

That said, it doesn't matter to me in Nascar. Some of my favorite drivers drive Toyota's.

next year, Danica will be doing the "Danica Double" and will be a part of the 60th running of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway in February and the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May..... she's also reported to be negotiating with NBC for a broadcasting position

Why would any network want to hire her as a commentator? She can't even finish a race in the top ten, so that should tell you something about her ability as a race driver. That is the last person I would want to listen to about racing.

Richard Petty Motorsports will field Chevrolet entries in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series beginning in 2018 and form an alliance with Richard Childress Racing, according to a Friday announcement from RPM team officials.

Heard it on the radio this morning. As far as I can remember, I don't believe Richard has ever raced a Chevy. Will be pretty interesting. He's teaming up with a great guy in Richard Childress.

Big Richard Petty fan here, He has not raced a chevy but the closest he came was a Pontiac. He ran a Ford one year.

I remember when Richard was one of the young guns in the sport .... later Jeff Gordon and a bit later Jimmy Johnson were part of the next generations ..... now a new group is coming on the scene .... I guess I'll stick with the 48,

If only we could make time stand still. The 48 could still get another championship I think. Jimmy isn't all that old. He is one of the drivers I also like now days.
Danica let me down. I thought she would run better than she did. She seams to be just a middle of the pack driver.

middle of the pack sounds about right .... of course, that puts her about 20th out of the arguably the finest 40 stock car drivers on the planet .... that's pretty good company .... as long as Jimmy and Chad stay together with Hendrick's backing, they have to be considered a contender

I usually hold back my comments on Danica, but since the subject is up, in her 5 full years in Cup, she finished off the seasons in 27th, 28th, 24th, 24th and 28th, which gave her an average of 26th. In all fairness to the other drivers out there, it also must be considered that she drove elite equipment for an elite team. Something that many of those drivers have not had the privilege of having, yet anyway.

Danica let me down. I thought she would run better than she did. She seams to be just a middle of the pack driver.

In my opinion, I have to give her some credit as she actually did better than I expected. I had her at 30th or worse in her Cup years.

Just going by my memory here, but I remember a Daytona 500 (could have been the July race though) where Danica had an opening to drop down into the fast lane and instead she just stayed high. At the time I was kind of amazed, but apparently NBD for the general public.

The opening would have put her in the fast line, and I believe within one or two of the lead with not that many laps to go in a HUGE race, and she just never took advantage of the opening. It closed quickly.

I don't know if I'm remembering the event correctly, maybe it strikes a chord with someone else?

with all of the safety restraints, drivers often have to rely on their spotters to tell them when they can change lanes .... don't know if that was the case in what you remember or not .... as you noted, at 200 mph gaps can close quickly

Anyone out there get an offer from NASCAR for a "Free" 2018 Schedule?

I did and I filled out the form and clicked next only to find out that they want $1.95 by Credit Card to pay for Shipping and Handling. It's not really the money, but the principle. Once I learned that I just said forget it. I hope they have a way of knowing that I don't want it now.
