New from Portland OR

Post by alanmckean » Thu Oct 26, 2017 1:40 pm

Hi Everyone,
I just got my first Henry ... a Golden Boy in .22 Magnum. I've been away from rifles for 50 years but have been shooting a variety of handguns at our local ranges for the last two years. The last time I shot rifles was with my scoped .22 LR in my basement range when I was 16. Now I love the sport again! Anyway, I went with a friend to Sporting Systems in Vancouver, WA, the other day, saw a variety of Henrys and fell in love. My first couple of outings at the range showed me how accurate my new rifle is. Excellent! I also found out that I can only shoot two or three magazines worth of rounds before my arm strength becomes a factor. I'm a little guy, I've lost some of my strength over the last few years, and the gun is pretty heavy for me. I'm considering getting another Henry, the H001 in .22 LR. It is a bit lighter and seems like it might be good for me to train with for shooting the heavier gun. Any thoughts? Looking forward to lots of little holes in my bullseyes!

Welcome to the forum. You might consider the Youth (H001Y) or the Carbine (H001L). Both have the 16.125" barrel but the Youth also has a shorter length of pull of 13" compared to the Carbine of 14".
