http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.p ... ort#p42917 .... over the years I've found that several things have a direct influence on felt recoil .... some involve ammo, some related to shooting style, some are a reaction to the shooting situation, some come from modifications to the firearm .... as an example, when pulling the trigger on a deer, boar, bear, goose/duck, dove, squirrel, wild dog, or any other critter, I don't remember experiencing recoil or hearing the muzzle blast ..

when it comes to modifications to a rifle, I've consistently found that a combination of mods produced a significant reduction in felt recoil ===> upgrading to the best possible recoil pad, installing a mercury recoil suppressor, and having the barrel Mag-Na-Ported
when it comes to modifications to a shotgun, the same trio above plus honing the forcing cone
when it comes to revolvers and other handguns, upgrading to the best available recoil absorbing grips and Mag-Na-Porting the barrel
when other factors like ammo and circumstances are included, I've seen some truly remarkable drops in felt recoil
