Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
What a race.
Not many cars left.
Jr had some spliter damage and it was enough for it to effect his speed at the end and finished 7th.
If Jr could not have won it, I was really hoping Newman could accomplish it, but finished 2nd to Kesloski who passed him on the last lap.
The big surprise was the 22, who I thought was out with damage, and showed up near the front and was able to push the 2 ahead to help him win it.
A packed house there today. No one can complain about the turnout.

Kansas Speedway .... Sunday, October 22 | 3:00 PM ET | NBCSN
with this being the last race Jr will run that several members of my wife's family in South Dakota can get to, several of them have tickets and reservations to attend Sunday's race at Kansas .... sure hope they have a great time .... I've told them to wave when the green flag is dropped so I can find them in the crowd ..

Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
we just got an email from my wife's relatives who have driven to KC for this weekend's race .... they are there and are having a great time .... as chance would have it, they are in the same Hotel as Kyle Petty and Rutledge Wood .... I'm not a fan of Kyle or Rutledge but I do have to tip my hat to them for being vary gracious in taking pictures with both the kids and adults in her family's group .... they are having a great time, can't help but wish we were out there with them

Are there any other Earnhardt rug rats coming up though the racing ranks to carry on the tradition?

Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
Jeffery Earnhardt, Dale Jr's nephew and Dale's Grandson is racing now in Cup. I'm going to say that when Jr finishes his last race and hangs up his helmet for good, Jeffery will get more recognition and maybe even a better ride.Henry88 wrote:Are there any other Earnhardt rug rats coming up though the racing ranks to carry on the tradition?

Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
Kansas sure had a "big one". Almost like a Talladega wreck.
Never saw a penalty like Kenseth got before, but they clearly violated a rule. The 7th man went out towards the car, stopped, went back and sat on the wall for a couple of seconds, then jumped off and went to the car to work on it. I have since learned that once you are on that 5 Minute Clock (which I hate, lol) anything over 6 men automatically puts a team out of the race.
Another great win for Truex. He sure is on a roll.

Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
My picking order as of now would be:
1. Truex (he sure deserves it)
2. Blaney (I'm a big Wood Bros fan)
3. Busch (the kid can drive)
4. Hamlin (home state driver)
5. Harvick (he's alright)
6. Chase Elliott (not a Hendrick fan)
7. Keselowski (got to put him somewhere, lol)
8. Johnson (same as #6, plus he's won enough in my opinion)

Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
one proviso on that .... a 7th crew member can come over the wall strictly to provide service to the driver (as was done by the 48 team in the same race) .... as noted, if the 7th man works on the car, their race day is doneCowboy Gun Fan wrote:Never saw a penalty like Kenseth got before, but they clearly violated a rule. Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
per NASCAR, in the 32nd of 36 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races this year, Martin Truex Jr. eclipsed 2,000 laps led for 2017. It happened in Stage 1 at Kansas Speedway, where he started from the pole position. Truex Jr. is just the 12th driver in the modern era (1972-present) to lead 2,000 laps in a single season .... a list of other 11 can be found at the link below
