right now the weather looks OK for the race at Charlotte .... unfortunately, the forecast seems to indicated a pretty small chance of running it without a rain delay

Great race and another great win for Truex.
Not a bad day for Jr at 12th.
Don't know how the 48 didn't get a penalty for finishing up his pit outside of the box.

pit crew didn't get driver's front tire lug nuts tightened .... he pulled forward ... they got his attention and he stopped ... they finished tightening the lug nuts with the tire outside of his box

Yeah, I later heard that it's OK by Nascar to tighten them that way, but with all the strict rules and regulations these days, I would never had guess it.JEBar wrote:pit crew didn't get driver's front tire lug nuts tightened .... he pulled forward ... they got his attention and he stopped ... they finished tightening the lug nuts with the tire outside of his box
Even Jimmie wasn't sure about it, as he later stated, but it looks like Chad knew it would be OK.

Not a Toyota fan but I would like to see Martin Truex get a championship.

That's pretty much a surprise as they have become more and more of a dominating team.
Goes to show how Nascar dollars are shrinking in the sport, as much as I hate to see it.

Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
Young kids today are just not interested in cars like we were. I read this article in my local paper the other day and it explains it pretty good. Kids would rather have some one else drive them so they can play with their phone, games, etc.
Man, what a difference from when we were kids.
I got interested in cars when I was 2. No exaggeration. Started driving when I was 11. Wanted my own car at 12, but wasn't allowed to buy one till I was 15. Paid for it with my own earned money to boot. On my 16th Birthday, I took the day out of school so I could go down and get my license. I was just pretty much typical, lol.
Here is the article. I was able to find it online:

Cowboy Gun Fan,
The world is definitely changing, with young people generally less interested as sports as a whole.
While we were fixing bikes and building "forts", the gen z where trying their fate at World of Warcraft.
We had deserted roads to race on, they have Police Drones watching.
Remember also that the rise in NASCAR cooncided with the country boom of the '90s, and we see the state of country music today
In the mdia, young people into athletics (high school or college) are usually depicted as thick sculled goons, while the the meek always being virtuous.
So I really don't think it's just NASCAR. The NFL shot itself in the foot with the old crowd and it isn't bringing in the young crowed either.
Then we can talk about young american men's declining grip strength....

NASCAR may end up like Champ/Indycar. One popular race a year other than that eh, who really cares?

Maybe on a National Level, but it could always revert back to a Southeast sport, like how it originated.Jdl447 wrote:NASCAR may end up like Champ/Indycar. One popular race a year other than that eh, who really cares?
