Henry .22 Magnum (H001TM)

Visited with a friend in the hospital this morning. The range is about half way between my home and the hospital so I decided to check out the sights on my Henry .22 Magnum. I don't shoot it real often so it still has the original buckhorn sights. I decided to shoot 15 rounds at 50yds and 15 rounds at 25 yds. I used Remington 40 grain JHP ammo. The iron sights on all my rifles and handguns are set for a 6 o'clock hold.

Both targets have 1 bullet that I was not happy with but I know it was me and not the rifle. I was resting the rifle on my range bag while shooting these targets.

Excellent POIs, Steve. And to me, especially so using the stock buckhorn sight. I know I wouldn't come even close to your results using the buckhorn.

That Henry Magnum sure is a fine shooter. Several years ago I had the .22 Magnum model with a round barrel, unlike your octagon model. Really enjoyed shooting that caliber. And of course, it's a Henry.....good stuff! Thanks for your Range Report. ---PT7

Nicely done with those open sights, Steve. When we were shooting that Marlin 22 LR with open sights, the other day, it reminded me that that old bead and buckhorn combo still works pretty dang good. Growing up, that's all we used for many years. Of course, these eyes were a bit sharper, back then.

I'm also shooting more 22 mag, these days, now that 22 mag ammo is easy to find and the prices more reasonable. Have always liked the cartridge. That bit of extra zip makes for a nice change of pace from shooting the 22 LR.

There is a lot of talk over at RFC about the Winchester subsonic WMRs. I believe they shoot a 45g bullet @1065fps.

I don't know if you have any experience with that load.........

I mention it for people that might want to shoot their beloved WMRs quietly.

Heard about them, but haven't noticed any for sale, yet, in our area. Thanks for mentioning them, though. I do like the idea of more load choices in the 22 mag. Has done a lot for the cartridge.

Very nice groups. One flyer for each group isn't bad at all... since you haven't shot the gun in a while.
