Where did the water go?

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

I owned property on the CT River in the 70's - 80's when tugs pushing barges or tankers filled with oil or coal, drawing 11-13 feet of depth, would navigate along the shore of our property. As they approached, they would suck the water away from the shoreline out about 100 feet or so... then, after passing, the river would come rushing back -- somewhat like a tsunami. It was always a marvel to watch.

Oil and Coal barges/tankers no longer navigate from L.I. Sound into the CT River toward Hartford and ports along the way.
