Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Re: Our mornin Coffee and Weather
Praying for the much-needed rain in your region, RR. That would be the best answer against the fires.
Take care and be safe. Glad that Badger is staying calm!

Re: Our mornin Coffee and Weather
Appreciated. Thanks. Tea in Henry mug this morning and out to check things around the home place. Not quite as hot.
*Update; this evening has a pretty good wind blowing and had actually cleared some smoke from our place. The wind is certainly not helping efforts at the actual fire I'm sure. It is burning mostly in the Flathead Valley in BC and the Alberta crews so far have it contained from coming across much into Alberta. Temps have cooled off and will stay cooler tomorrow as well. That's a relief as 2 months of 90F are enough for this 'ol cowpoke.

Moved horses north to a safe area. 50,000 acres burning between us and the US border. We are getting ash now falling and praying for rain.

Re: Our mornin Coffee and Weather
A few small showers last night. Better than nothing. Still home under evacuation alert. Stuff is packed just in case. Rain in forecast for next couple of days.
Update: Sept 13th. Doing a little better, rain and some cool weather have settled in. The fire is about 100,000 acres right now but some of it has burned out. Unfortunately some ranchers have lost their homes and livestock. It's still listed as out of control but the weather is actually helping now instead of the other way around. Our horses are fine at another ranch north of us, and we still have the trailer on the truck with some valuables in it. Just in case, as fires can spin on a dime depending on the wind.
Tea time.

Re: Our mornin Coffee and Weather
It's been raining here for the last 24 hrs or so. GREAT. Still under an Evac Alert but the fire did not grow last night. Lots of scorched earth though, and several ranchers lost it all. Unpacked the trailer but stuff still in bags until they lift the alert. Henry is back on the wall, and the revolver back in the cabinet. Horses come home tomorrow I think. See how it is in the morning. I think we got some help from above, and I don't mean rain clouds. It was only 39F this morning with snow on the mountains.

That's great news, RR!
I bet that you and the horses will be glad to get back to living without the fear of fires.
The sun keeps making brief appearances, and we are having lots of showers. The temp is somewhere in the high 50's - low 60's.

Yeah, that kind of morning. It's going to hit the 90's later, with 30 mph winds. Outa here by noon!

My kind of lake! Produced a half dozen crappie and a few bluegil. Nice way to spend a morning.

Re: Our mornin Coffee and Weather
I'm really glad that you're getting some good rain at last, RR.
You must be getting some of ours, because the forecast for this weekend is dry with possibly the occasional shower. Since the middle of July, it's been wet with the possibility of occasional sunshine.

Cool and damp this morning. Hot and windy later. It seems we're going into fall with 90° temperatures. Coffee, and the view from the garage.

It rained most of the day yesterday. First rain in months where the ground actually got wet.
