New guy got hooked on Henry
A couple of years back I won a H006 big boy at a Friends of the NRA dinner. I've enjoyed the thing immensely mostly with the milder 44spl loading. I recently got a hankering for 45/70 and there was no contest between the Remlin guide gun and the Henry H010. Now with two great levers in the safe it just seemed like Karma that I had to add a Golden Boy H004 to keep the other two company. The 22 should arrive within the week and I cant wait to take it to the range. I just love the Henrys and had to join this group to keep abreast of what may join the safe posse in the future.

I plan on taking the 45/70 to North Carolina this year. My go-to rifles are 6.5 Swede and 270 Win but I want to try the Henry on some of the woods stands. Gawd, does it kick LOL

Welcome from the Shenandoah Valley, VA. You found a great forum full of friendly and knowledgeable Henry lever gunners. Great story about how you got your first Henry - now it sounds like you have the same affliction that most of the rest of us have on this forum - "need another Henry syndrome" - unfortunately there is no known cure other than a trip to the Henry rack at the local gun shop....

Welcome from Colorado. 45-70 is an awesome caliber in the levergun. I have the CCH and it just puts the biggest grin on my face every time I shoot it. Al

I just bought my first Henry Big Boy, now can't wait for my daughter's birthday in December so I can get a Golden Boy for her. I went back and forth between the 44 mag and the 45-70. I'll be within 50 yard here on deer, 44 mag won.

Re: New guy got hooked on Henry
under those conditions a 44 mag is a great choice .... in fact, its a great choice at more than twice that range .... I have both a 44 and 45-70 .... both are fine rifles .... the 44 is lighter so (at least for me) it is easier to carry in the woods .... it is also much cheaper to shoot .... if you custom order your Golden Boy, Henry will work with you to give it a custom serial number .... example : the serial number for the one I ordered for our grandson is his name followed by the year XXXXX2016Sandrockdan wrote:I just bought my first Henry Big Boy, now can't wait for my daughter's birthday in December so I can get a Golden Boy for her.
