I have really enjoyed all of your projects that you have put up for our perusal. I think each one is better than the last. I am basically a wood butcher. I see all of your fine work and I am envious. One question, if I may, how do you secure the brass drawer knobs in place? I would think you would have to glue them in place, rather than just trusting a friction fit.
Once again, thank-you for your wonderful tutorials, they give me inspiration to experiment on my own projects.

I glued them in place, THEN came in the the top of the drawers, and used a small copper nail to go thru the drawer, then casing, and the drawer again, to make SURE they didn't pull out. Pulling out unexpectedly would suck.

I guess you could call it... "knob security" ... Oh, I don't believe even "I" went there.

Look Just above the knob at the edge of the drawer just behind the walnut front, counter sunk, but you can see the copper peeking thru.

Thank you for the quick reply. I figured at least glue. The copper nail is good insurance. Ask the wife to hurry up with the mineral oil treatment on the candle shelves please, I would really like to see them finished. I can hardly wait to see your apiary come next spring. My Grand dad used to run between 8-10 hives back when I was a kid. I remember going with him at night to capture a queen from wild hives. People called him whenever they had bee "problems". He got out of the bee business about a year before he died. Dad got his helmet and smoker after and when he died, I couldn't find them. I always wanted to be able to do that, but living in town puts the Kibosh on that.

It looks great with the stain on and Im sure everytime you look at that box or go to it you will remember how it went together and how much you enjoyed building it. Especially since its something you created on your own. Nice job my hats ff to your talents and skill. Al

A quick job this afternoon...


Miss Tina found three more rolls of the black drawer liner. I spent an hour measuring and cutting the liners for the last half of the drawers and the top chest with the the hammers and armorer's blocks. One day when I have nothing to do i'll bring in the bees wax...
And put on a coat or two.

It will give the chest a soft glow, protect it, and make my office smell great for weeks.
