Our Morning Coffee and Weather

It's been wetter here. Some cooler days, but fairly normal weather coming up......... HUMID.

I see you're in upstate NY. Where upstate? I'm down in the Hudson Valley. This summer seems a bit milder than usual, not a lot of temps above the mid 80s.

Our camp is in Saranac Lake. It was pretty nice and normal there.

Coffee in the Buck knives mug this morning. Temps going from mid fifties to mid eighties. Hot and humid. Summer is back.

We had our first rain in 57 days earlier this week.

This is the scene I return to this morning. The view from the garage. The last five days have been spent going to Columbus Georgia for the graduation from Boot Camp of my oldest grandson. He enlisted in the Nebraska National Guard.
He is now on his way to advanced infantry training, to be followed by medic training.
So proud of this young man. My son and I made the return drive in one 23 hour run. I am beat.

We've been receiving the tail end of hurricane Gert over here for the past couple of days, so we've had plenty of rain and wind to contend with.

It makes me appreciate just how devastating storm systems like this can be. We are getting the 'worn out' version of Gert. I would hate to have to get up close and personal with the fully charged version.

The stormy KCMO weather yesterday really almost eclipsed the eclipse. Other than the maybe 45 minutes or so of mostly sunny sky during and around the time of "totality," we had very black clouds, a fantastic lighting show displayed against those clouds, blowing wind, and heavy thunderstorms. I don't know how many times late in the day my Android blared the "severe warning" of flash flooding in our county.

This morning I checked my garden rain gauge, and I surpassed the weather prediction of 1"-3" for the northland area. My gauge displayed 4" of storm water!!! I went out last evening to meet with some friends, and the storm was tremendous during that time. When I drove (paddled) home and pulled into my garage, it was the first time in five years I found the garage flooded!

All around, quite an interesting and memorable weather day.

It's dull, overcast and warm here today. There's not much else to say, really. Nothing repeatable, anyway!

At 5:27 am. it's already a balmy 77 degrees. 40% chance of possible thunder storms with a high of 91. We're getting dry, so a little rain will be welcomed.

60's now, going to the mid 70's. Yesterday it was 93 and muggy. Several bands of severe thunderstorms went through and tornado warnings all over. I don't think any touched down. It dropped 20 degrees in a 90 minute period. The humidity didn't change.

Coffee is in the Henry mug this morning.

Wow, Dave! If we dipped down in the 60's, I might bust out the buffalo coat! Your weather sounds like ours. It can drop 20-30 degrees in a few hours. I always said... Our animals don't know if they should grow or shed fur the way our weather changes. Are you around the Buffalo area?

83 degrees here with 82% humidity.....that's Houston area life in the summer! You can breathe and drink at the same time!!!

Our non-summer is continuing here. It's overcast, warm, and at least it's not raining, so it's not all bad!

It's a nice 67 degrees this morning. The weatherman said it's going to be overcast most of the day, reaching a high of 83. We had rain showers off and on yesterday, nothing like Houston and the coastal areas. Our thoughts and prayer go out to all our friends, fellow Texans and 1st responders who are dealing with the aftermath of the storms.

Hot and dry. No rain since late June. Been on fire watch now for 2 months. Breathing smoke for weeks now almost daily. 90 today. No rain in forecast til late Sept.

I spoke too soon about the rain! It's coming down big time. It's still warm, though, so I'll take that as a bonus.
