That is beautiful, JEBar when you get it all outfitted most of us would like a reange report.
Those Henry's are nice looking rifles.

as this is being typed, she is at our local firearms dealer having a 3-9 Nikon installed .... with our decision to purchase 2 Henry rifles we decided to take the opportunity to swap some scopes so as to better match them to our rifle collection .... the 4-12 Nikon that has been on a 300 WBY Mag will be replaced by a stronger/newer Nikon .... that scope will be moved to a 30-06 and its current 3-9 Nikon will be moved to the Henry 44 Mag .... in a separate transaction, we will remove a 3-9 Nikon from a 308 and install it on a Henry 45-70 we have on order .... a new 4-12 Nikon will be purchased for the 308 .... the older 3-9's are still crystal clear and should work well on the Henry's .... do plan to take pictures and hopefully a range report from when we get the new Henry's on a range later this week

we certainly try to .. .. for over 10 years we deer hunted with a club in Eastern NC that leased some very large fields .... one was literally over a square mile which put it at over 640 acres .... sitting in a Texas type tower stand looking over a soybean field motivated the purchase of the 300 WBY .... from that experience we learned that we had enough rifle but didn't have enough scope .... buying the Henry rifles gave us a chance to rotate some scopes and come out with improved combos on several rifles

shooting them with a 22 LR was fun but it also helped the farmer/rancher .... stories of a horse or cow breaking a leg by stepping in a gopher hole are pretty common out there .... if SD hadn't of raised its license fee I was going to buy a varmint rifle chambered for shooting 204 Ruger caliber shells

Naw the Eagles, crows, & ravens, get to them first.
Shoot about five & bingo here come the birds then gophers get really scarce!
They are low man on the food chain!

15 months and thousands of rounds after purchasing our Henry 44 Mag and starting this thread, you can still "Color Me as Being Impressed" .... this morning we fired 200 rounds with no load or ejection issues .... did have one shell that didn't fire .... no clue why, the firing pin hit the primer hard .... its action is as smooth as one expects from a Henry .... in case anyone wonders, it is possible to heat up the barrel of a Henry 44 to the point that you can't hold on to it for very long .. .. I have also noticed that when the barrel heats up, its point of impact doesn't change as much as it does with most of my other rifles .... yep, impressed indeed

10-4 .... down the road I'd love to send our BBS and have it color case hardened .... I really like that finish on a rifle

I think Turnbull is the only one that really knows how to get the colors right but big $$$ there. Maybe there are others.

one thing has remained constant throughout, she's an accurate rifle that is a pleasure to shoot .... to date, she's never fired a factory load .... as can be seen in this thread, we've tried several different lead and jacketed bullets .... all have performed well .... so far we haven't found one she doesn't like .... in the end, we've decided to go back to the same load we've fired in or Ruger revolvers since the mid 60's .... mostly 240 gr Nosler JHP' (once in a while JSP') pushed by 23.8 gr of W296 or H110 .... its a long with which she excels .... as recently as a few hours ago we were having a good time firing her at smaller pieces of broken skeet at 100 yards ....

Nice looking shooting iron. I’d be curious how well it handles .44 Special if you shoot any of that.

the rifle has no problem with them but I do .... fortunately, one of the perks of loading your own ammo is, if we want to do so, we can load rounds with 38 special specs in 357 cases .... as well as, load rounds with 44 Special specs in 44 Mag cases .... the problem for me is firing a shorter case can leave a carbon ring in the space that normally hold the extra length of the magnum round .... do it enough and that ring can hinder smoothly feeding magnum length rounds .... yep, extra cleaning can remove the ring but I just don't want to mess with it
