I watched this movie yesterday, and I thought it was superb. It tells the story of Desmond Doss, the only conscientious objector to have been awarded the Medal of Honor.

If you thought the opening scenes of 'Saving Private Ryan' were graphic, then Hacksaw Ridge knocks them into a cocked hat. The bravery and actions of Mr Doss were nothing short of saintly, under the conditions he operated in.

If you haven't seen it yet - then do yourself a favor and try to take it in. A truly awesome movie about a truly awesome American.

It's on my list of movies to watch. My wife isn't a fan of graphic violence in movies so I'll have to watch by myself sometime..

I would like to see this movie when it comes out on a dvd or blue ray version. Our Sony machine takes both types of movies. Thank you for the heads up.

I plan on renting it on a $1.25 day.

I have seen Saving Private Ryan many times and, if my memory serves me right, we donated our copy to the MC Public Library with many of our other films. I thought that SPR was a very good film but I have seen other 'war movies' that I enjoyed more and we kept them in the long run. Examples: Patton, The Longest Day, many John Wayne movies and other movies with more of the 'older actors' in them.

With that said... I look forward to seeing this movie down the road. Thanks again.

I watched it this afternoon and I couldn't agree with you more, Les. Hacksaw Ridge is an outstanding film about a truly heroic man, whose principled, spiritual commitment to his God and himself and his unlikely, though extraordinary military contribution to preserving our freedoms in WWII was "nothing short of saintly". God bless him.

The bravery and actions of Mr. Doss were nothing short of saintly... A truly awesome movie about a truly awesome American.

I read the book first... inspiring.
Liked the movie as well.
His actions in real life were far greater than those shown in the film.

Bill and I saw it at the theatre and loved it. Not much for movies with that level of violence and bloodshed, unless the story is great and this one was.

Hey, Henry Folk. What is the book title, and who is the author? I've been searching online and there are various books written about Desmond Doss. Just need to find out the specifics to get the correct one.

I also liked SPR, but I think I'd like to try this book first before the movie, as I'm an avid reader.
