Hendrick Motorsports has named Alex Bowman to the No. 88 for the 2018 season ..... I'm not surprised but do think they could have done better

Another great win for William Byron today at Indy in the Xfinity Series.

The kid is really on a roll.

I'm looking to see him move up to Cup in '18 or '19.

OH well, Jimmie qualified 4th for today's race at Indy but due to having to change a rear end gear will have to start from the rear .... tough qualifying for Chevy, only 2 now starting in the top 10 .... my girl qualified 23rd, over 5 mph slower than the pole, that's not a good omen

unless a large number of folks get to there seats in a big hurry, huge sections of the stands will be empty when the green flag falls

lap 110 the 78 took out the 18 .... heck of a fire, glad nobody was hurt .... I hate it for the 78

Looked to me like the 18 was trying to run the 78 into the grass. The shrub had 48 laps to regain the lead and made a bad decision on the restart. Personally glad to see him out of the race.

the 78 was turning up as the 18 was turning down .... Truex took responsibility .... in the next wreck SHR took a big hit with the 14 taking out the 41

double overtime .... green -- white -- checker .... heck of a finish for what was otherwise a ho-hum race .... Jimmie drove the heck out of his car as it was blowing up .... congrats to the 5 team, a win that might save his ride .... my girl got in the top 10 during the 3rd stage but had problems with the series of late restarts and finish 11th

Sure was a crazy race.

I'm a big Truex fan, but he basically did cause it in my opinion, like he took the blame for.

Like Jeff Burton stated: "Just hard racing".

Congrats to Kasey Kahne and the 5 team.

Can't believe how easy he got by the 2 like he did.

Hendrick had 3 DNF's and 1 Win. Kind of crazy day for them too.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. signs multiyear deal with NBC.

I would rather had see him go to Fox, the better network, but it will be interesting to have him on TV every week they cover.

Well this won't go over very well. lol

I've been a die hard NASCAR fan since the early 90's. From then until now, this has become such a sissy sport it's not even any fun to watch any more.

Stage racing....ho hum....sounds like participation trophy time.
Competition caution....ho hum....what is this, entry level racing now?
Drivers that can't make a lap without wrecking and taking out several cars. Send them back to the pony league until they can function.

Yesterdays race with a record number a cautions, all the "fans" on FB complaining about everything....

Upon further thoughts....

I raced NASCAR on line for nearly 7 years. We used a race simm called NASCAR online racing. It was licensed by Papyrus. Eventually EA Sports bought the franchise and destroyed it with licensing issues and other rights restrictions. I raced in leagues that ran anywhere from 20-100% of the actual race (in the simm) with guys and gals from all over the world. We had leagues that would fill the field in Trucks, Busch and Cup series. (that should give you an idea of how long ago it was.)

We raced every night of the week and on weekends. We always raced the cup schedule.

It was a great time for NASCAR (2000-2007) and we were living it as real as we could.

It seems like after Dale Sr. was killed that the sport went all sissy boy and it's never been the same since.

Sorry for the downer morning. NASCAR had been a big part of my life for the past 20 years. Now with all the good drivers gone and all these newbies that can barely make a lap taking over, (I know I'm over generalizing but I'm sure you get my meaning) and all the rules to ensure the drives can make it around one lap safely has taken all the excitement out of it. Yet, they still can't make a successful lap without something going on.

Yeah, I agree that the old days are gone.

Yesterday's race even had an eerie "atmosphere" to it with the empty stands like they were.

But even though I'm an old hold-out, it's all we got.

There is no alternative to turn to.

And even though most aren't racing anymore, we still have Earnhardts, Waltrips, Jarretts and Wallaces in the sport.

Also have to say that some of the new Young Guns are pretty impressive.

Here's hoping it gets better, lol.
