Better brass?

Starline is my first choice in pistol brass. I have about 5000 pieces of there brass. Quality and uniformity is second to none. Eventually, Starline brass is all I will have for pistol cartridge cases. The only thing better than Starline brass is FREE Starline Brass.

echo the positive experience using Starline .... while I keep brass from factory ammo and reload it, Starline is the only brass I buy in bulk

In the 1000's of Starline brass I've loaded I only found 4 that was bad . I resize new brass before loading them and I found 4 split after coming out of the resizing die . I had 3 more split after firing and they all were 357 mag brass loaded to 38 spec. No more split in the next reloading of them . The primer pocket are very uniform which is a big plus in my book .

The best brass is the stuff you pick up at the range for free.

Not much .45 lc on the floor. I did have a hard time walking away from some 45-70 a guy was tossing in the bucket. I don't have a 45-70. I don't plan on ever having a 45-70. It was some big beautiful brass.

When I find some .357 magnum on the floor it's like Christmas.

OP, most brass you will find is fine, just as long as it hasn't been reloaded 27 times.

If you're gonna buy it, you can't go wrong with Starline. Also, if you don't have access to any free range brass, Sometimesmit makes sense to just look for sales on factory ammo, and shoot the stuff for the brass.

Starline is good brass and if I am buying new brass that would be my preference. I bought one box of PMC .44 Magnum ammunition a couple of years ago when .44 Magnum brass was out of stock everywhere. My big gripe with their brass was the primer pocket holes were not centered - not even close. Don't know if that will affect bullet performance but I thought it was pretty shoddy.

I like Federal Brass for 45 acp. The local sheriff's dept shot regularly at our private range. Picked up thousands of once fired Federal 45's & Lake City .223 over the years. Then they had to switch to Speer. Federal Brass is thicker in the neck area than Speer, you can feel it when you resize it or just Mic it. Speer still works but is not as good. Winchester is my 2nd go to for 45's. Starline makes great stuff but i prefer my brass to be FREE.

When I got 44-40 Vaquero pistols and 44-40 Rossi rifle in about 1995 I got 400 rounds of Rem factory ammo . Took 300 rds and shot it SASS/ CAS matches and reloaded it for over 18 yrs . The brass NEVER failed in over 20 yrs and reloaded over 80 times I used it . Only the pockets for the primers were getting loose and wearing out . When I sold the gun I still never lost or spilt any brass and gave the old brass loaded to the new gun owners . I loaded the 500 rds of NEW RP brass I purchase over 10 yrs ago for my Sheriff Vaquero I built .

I am really picky about some things and loading perfect ammunition is one of them. I have learned
quite a bit about loading over the years, but I will probably never know it all.

As far as cases go, I too am a great believer in Starline, they do make fine cases.

A while back I bought some Jagemann cases, and guys, they are every bit as good as Starline and
maybe a bit better. The quality is visibly perfect and their performance has been outstanding.
Starline and Jagemann, those are the only ones I buy.

No, I am not involved with them, except as a very satisfied customer.
