Rifle in .327 Federal

Enough fiddling around. I've set this money aside for the 327 and have waited,somewhat patiently . After tonight's revelation it won't be out for another month or ever later ,I'm going to spend my money on a like new JM 450 Marlin.
If and when Henry quits jerking people around and actually get the 327 on the market I may buy one , but it surely wont right away.!
Henry can wait for my money..

Im with you RR. To each there own but if they released it to soon and had issues then people would be all over them for returning guns. Just ask Remington when they bought out Marlin. They had big time issues I know I have one of there early guns and its a never again thing for me. Al

In manufacturing, there's lots of reasons things get delayed. Production problems, parts supply, manpower, machinery downtime, etc. I'm sure once they release it, the product will be fine. Missing a deadline is better than having a rifle blow up.

Just got an email from a friend attending the NRA meeting in Ga.
Said he asked the Henry reps at their booth about the .327 Big Boy steel.
They told him yesterday that the .327's are now expected to start shipping in early June, yt their website says late May.

Seems like one hand doesn't know what the other is doing.

I am also still waiting for a 327 BBS. It should be worth the wait to get the first rifle chambered for this round. It does however puzzle me when manufacturers announce tentative ship dates before they have produced sufficient, reliable quantities to ship. I would announce the decision to make a particular firearm with an approximate time frame(sometime next year) and announce the ship date once ready to ship. No disappointments this way or at least very few! Can't please everyone, right. My experience with Anthony at Henry tells me he will try!

delays happen .... over a year ago I read about a top company's 400 grain jacketed bullet that's designed for use in a 45-70 and is built to take down the largest game .... given its a specialty bullet so there is a limited market which requires to produce them to manufacture them on an irregular basis .... this bullet has 2 components and its manufacture is pretty well handed by robotics .... I've been corresponding with one of their reps for over a year and he's been great to work with .... I've lost track of the number of production delays .... the most recent delay passed now that mid to late April has come and gone .... May 1st I sent him a request for an update .... May 2nd I received the following reply :

"Hi Jim,

They are on one of the last operations – getting the cannelure grooves put on. I’d expect to see them in about two weeks.

We are behind due to this particular machine going down – I apologize for the delay.

Thanks, "

I don't care what company one is talking about, nobody wants their product on the market more than they do .... until that happens, they are building expenses which they can't even begin to recoup until their product is on the market and being sold .... I understand first hand the frustration that builds over time at such times and the reality is I can't do anything that would reduce the delay by a hot minute .... point being, as noted above, in today's world delays happen ....

I emailed Henry customer service again. This time I came right out and asked what the issue(s) were.
Received a response today telling me they are having more trouble than anticipated getting .32H&R magnum to cycle properly.

I actually feel much better.
At least now I know where the problems lie.
I would not imagine this should be a major fix.
Seems like something a little "tweaking" might just take care of.

Well, it is but hours from as "Late May 2017" as you can get, and STILL no Big Boy steel in .327
Wonder how long it will be before they change the website to read, "sometime in the future..."

Thanks for the update. I don't want the gun if it can't handle the 32 H&R. Important feature for me, since I shoot more of the 32. Be glad to wait until they get out right.

Called Henry customer service again today.
The guy said that the .327's experienced a production "issue", but that "things are now back on rack, and should be shipping in the next two weeks.

I'm still not holding my breath.

Recently picked up a 327 and a 32 H&R barrel for my Contenders, so I'm set for these cartridges. Sure would be nice to add a lever gun in those cartridges, though.

I got that same excuse, having trouble getting .32H&R mag to feed, 3 months ago.
A month and a half ago I was told they were "back on track, and expected to begin shipping in the next two weeks".
Two weeks ago I was told by the end of June 2017.

They seem to be having more than just minor difficulties.
I'm very tempted to cal Mr. Imperato and cancel my order.
Six months of more in delays makes me wonder if they WILL work when released.

I've been BEGGING for someone to make this exact rifle for more than 3 years, and now that someone actually says they're going to, they can't seem to get it right.

I have some serious doubts.
Henry is more than just slightly experienced at producing lever action rifles.
The .327 fed/mag round is not that much different in size than the .357mag, which also chambers the lesser .38spl.

Henry knows how to make them, and how to make them run smoothly.
This suggests to me that there are other issues.

These repeated delays are just plain confidence breakers...

I think that's exactly what you should do. These delays should be confidence builders. They want to get it right. I expect that you do know about their warranty and commitment to Customer service. Getting it right means they can honor their warranty. Getting it to market before then is what some other companies might do.

frustration understood ... given the belief that Henry will not put one on the market until it meets their historic standards for appearance and function, one wouldn't seem to have very many choices .... basically, wait or move on .... personally, since I wouldn't want a rifle that wasn't right and I had no control over when it would be produced, I'd wait

Ok I get it your wanting it now because you heard there was one on the way. I will ship it out to you right now even though it wont cycle one of the rounds we promised it would will send her out. Then we will wait for you to complain that it doesnt work like we told you it would. So then send it back and we will work on it till we get it right. Mean time you can wait for us to fix it and tell everyone on the internet about how bad we are because we released a rifle that didnt work like we said it would. I think I would wait till it comes out. A little more time to get it right beats having to return it if its wrong. JMHO
