Henry Big Boy Carbine .41 Magnum- I Can See!!!

I know this is sacrilegious to some but I found it actually did work for me. Had a hard time seeing my stock sights since I have progressive lenses for my glasses. Thought about a Skinner peep sight, but since I reload .41 Magnum, I came up with this idea to save my vision and my back!! I bought a Henry picatinny scope rail. Then added both a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot sight and Caldwell Pic Rail Brass Catcher! It actually worked great!!
Dang, now if I could only hold the rifle steady enough....

I have used my TRS-25 on my mare's leg. Makes it easy to get on target for sure. I wear progressive lenses and open sights can be a real challenge. Peeps work very well for me though. The brass catcher is definitely not traditional but I like it. Great idea for a reloader.

I've not seen a brass catcher on a Henry before. Looks very functional, and sure would have saved me a lot of time hunting down those .357 Magnum brass hidden in the grass!! At least now when shooting the SGC in .22LR, I let the brass lie and "stay hidden!"

highly innovative .... for me, I believe folks ought to use whatever type of sights work best for them .... I have open sights on a few, traditional scopes on many, and a red dot on my favorite revolver .... I'd like to know more about the bullet catcher .... pictures of how you mount it on your Henry would be appreciated

Nice set up!
Nothing wrong with a red dot sight. It can always be removed if no longer desired or needed.

Pics of the view. The brass catcher attachment minimally obscures the view. Maybe the bottom 1/3 of your view at most is obscured, but it was not a problem. There was plenty of viewing area to use.

I've been interested in the bushnell tsr25 for a while now, though I've never actually used one.

It's one of those products that you rarely hear anything bad about; usually gets about 4.5 stars.

I would think it would be a good match for the gun, and it doesn't detract from it's looks as it comes across as demure.

info appreciated .... so far as I've seen your adaptation of the shell catcher to use on a Henry is unique but I'd be willing to bet that others will be interested

If you've read any of my posts you know you're preaching to the choir to me about using optics on lever guns. That little TRS-25 is an excellent and affordable option in a red dot for rifle or handguns. Have several of them on various guns. Hard to beat for the price. Excellent brightness controls and windage/elevation adjustments. Just wish they made a version for use on rimfire grooved receivers. If they did, would have even more of them.

I especially like the fact that red dots are usually small enough and light enough not to change the balance and handling on a lever gun. Also like the fact that you can take the red dot off and still use the open sights if you want. Love how quick they are to get on target, too.

As with JEBar, I have rifles set up all kinds of sights, some with iron, some with red dots and some with scopes. Nice to have choices. Use what works for you.
