Henry Rifle Hammer Expanders
Carlson's is an outstanding company .... we have numbers of their choke tubes for several different shotguns .... they are now marketing American made Hammer Expanders for Henry rifles .... link below

I wish I'd of known these were available before we purchased expanders for all three of our Henry rifles

Re: Henry Rifle Hammer Expanders
I received an email from Carlson's, which also highlighted these hammer-expanders. Along with it, there was a notice about a Memorial Day weekend sale. I cannot copy that info directly into the Henry windows, but will just type out the sale info here:

Don't know that I would need, or for that matter want, extra "stuff" on the side I never cock the gun.

Re: Henry Rifle Hammer Expanders
my pure guess is they design their hammer expanders to stick out on both sides to accommodate left handed shooters .... with a scope mounted on our Henry rifles, I find a hammer expander to really come in handy ....

I believe the singles are reversible, but yeah for multiple shooters.JEBar wrote:my pure guess is they design their hammer expanders to stick out on both sides to accommodate left handed shooters .... with a scope mounted on our Henry rifles, I find a hammer expander to really come in handy ....

I'll have to take a look at ours .... I never tried installing it on the left side so I don't know if it is reversible or not

Just, who cares, but since I took my scope off I don't use them.

Re: Henry Rifle Hammer Expanders
if we were to remove the scopes, I don't know if we would remove them or not .... as you know, with a Henry you have to pull the trigger to put it on "Safe" .... the extenders give me a better grip

Re: Henry Rifle Hammer Expanders
RR --- I don't think this equipment would necessarily apply to your rifles, your usage. The primary use, I believe, is when a rifle is scoped. You've maintained iron sights, right? Many times the scope is mounted with low rings, and the scope sits really close to the top of the hammer. Folk can't get their thumbs between the scope and hammer to cock the rifle. The extension is easily accessed from the side with the thumb.
On the other thumb, err hand, I believe some folk mount these with a "comfort" focus, more to put the thumb on, maybe easier to cock the rifle.
Those are my thots of 2 cents. I may be off base. But I'm certain other folk will chime in with more $$. Guess you can use more of that on a cowboy's earnings.
