Sweet corn this year
Over the weekend, I went to my parents and dusted off one of his tractors and started out to till up one of the fields to eventually plant sweet corn.
The tractor was due for an oil change, so that was done. Then the battery was covered in corrosion and the electric lift for the discs didn't work. After getting that going, I was able to disc an area. Then my fiance came out for a bike ride. After that, I was able to get back on the tractor and finish up a bit. It will take a few more sessions of discing and dragging, then planting. We are figuring about 12 rows or so. Pictures as I can. Too much work last weekend for pics.

Most likely late August, early September. You better eat just a little to tide you over till then.

Re: Sweet corn this year
I got out to my parents place yesterday and planted 13 rows of corn.

If you can read the bags, they are labeled early, medium and late. Four rows of each with an extra row of late to use up the fertilizer. We'll see how it comes in, but at least it is in the ground.

Shouldn't corn be knee high by the fourth of July?

We never have subscribed to that. We try to get it in by then. Weather was wet when I was available all of June.

Re: Sweet corn this year
I got the Cub going and did some cultivating. I hadn't planted too evenly, so I took off the outer tooth on each side. It should work well next week.
I didn't go down the narrow parts, so there's plenty of corn left.
