I believe I heard that one of the drivers was even helping out the campers in the flood. I believe it was Chris Buescher, if I got it right.

I say, good for Dale Jr.. He made the decision, not someone or something forcing him to retire. I did the same thing 5 years ago, I retired at the top of my game and never looked back. Congratulations Dale Jr.!

Talladega with 116 laps down and no "the big one" yet. Maybe this stage racing is working.

Okay so with 20 to go.... It's the BIG ONE!
I don't like Talladega, it is too big and too fast.

Great finish.

I'm not a big Stenhouse fan, but was real glad to see him win his first. Also glad for the Cat in the Hat, Jack Roush.

His team seemed pretty overjoyed as well.

For a while I thought that there wasn't going to be a Big One, but it did show up.

Chase sure went for a ride.

Jr had more bad luck with a loose Left Rear, but salvaged a 22nd.

Congrats to Ricky! Missed another race! Who would have thought that my 8 year old grandson would be playing flag football in May!

on 200th lap the 22 turned into Danica and caused one heck of a fiery wreck .... she seems to be OK but was one ticked off lady .... the 43 crashed into the 10 & 22 and they had to cut Almirola out of the 43 and air lifted to a hospital

My daughter just drove passed the KS Speedway racetrack a short time ago on her way home from our place.
She said the police cars on I-70 directing on/off traffic, as well as a lot of Nascar fans floating around, made for some pretty wild highway driving for her, too!!

I was hoping on Ryan Blaney, but also glad to see Truex win another.

That was a crazy wreck with the 22, 10 and 43. Aric's wreck didn't seem that bad to me, but they said something about bent rollbars. Hope he will be OK. Danica bailed out quick again. I remember her being extra terrified of fire. Something broke on the RF of the 22. You can see it explode in the replays. Jeff Gordon believes it is a Brake part. I believe he is correct.

Almirola is out of the Hospital, but has a Compression Fracture.

From Petty Motorsports:

“Aric Almirola, driver of the No. 43 Richard Petty Motorsports Ford, has been released from a local Kansas hospital and will fly back to his home in Mooresville, N.C. today.

Almirola suffered a compression fracture to his T5 Vertebra after a multi-car accident at Kansas Speedway Saturday night. Almirola is mobile and will follow-up with his doctors in Charlotte.

Richard Petty Motorsports will provide further updates when available.”

Yeppers, it was a brake rotor. I had the race recorded and when they went into slo-mo so did I. On the recording you can see two separate incidents. The first was a tiny piece of rotor flying up out of the hood and goes sailing forward like a rocket ship launch. Then a second later about a 1/4 of the rotor comes popping up and that sent the car careening to the left.
