Here is the 1860 Henry carried on my horse. I'm pretty happy with how it carries. Since I modified the scabbard the rifle fits very well. Doesn't move around at all even at a nice steady jog.

Looks good. That triple K seems to match the stock wood color pretty good too.

Just got my Triple K order. Check it out. Nice Slim Jim cross draw holster that fits my 1860 Colt SAA and a real nice buckskin cover for the Henry 1860. Love their stuff. Great prices too!

I also ended up moving my rifle back to the "off-side" on my saddle. It was just too much in the way on the side I cinch up on, plus stepping on and off on that side with the extra weight of the rifle kept cranking my saddle off kilter too much. So it's back on the business side, and I'll just have to be aware when roping critters that it's there.
It's much better balanced when riding as well. Guess there's a reason you see them on that side often.

can it be tilted to where the butt stock is 3" +/- lower ? .... if so, would that help with throwing a leg over when mounting/dismounting ?

I can, but it doesn't bother me as is. I played with it quite a bit up and down, I just don't want it to slide out when I'm climbing hills....I ride in quite a bit of brush sometimes, so the more I can get it up close to the horse and out of the way the better, specifically the muzzle end.

Hey RR could ya help a rookie out with a couple close ups of how and where you attach the scabbord to the saddle? It's a bit uncomfortable slung over the shoulder goin thru the trees. Always thought about a scabbord just never used one. Elk season ain't till October so no rush!

This is the wrong side but it's the same way on the off side since I moved it. I had extra D rings put on each side near the cantle when I had my saddle made. The front strap is run through my breast collar D. You can fasten right to the rigging as well. Whatever hangs best. Has to fit horse well and you too.

Main thing is everything snug to the horse so you dont catch a tree branch. And don't lose your rifle.
