Hello,

I already added it to that thread.

I think that he shot (First time out with this gun.) one load but he WILL shoot both types of loads. I only saw his target and he mentioned a load to me but I did not write it down. I do not reload and I never did reload. I think that he used the Hornady brand reloading bullets. He has different types of reloading bullets for his 45-70. He makes different loads as I already said.

I can't ask him because he is out at his friend's ranch right now.

I know that when we traveled up north, he always put ammo in his other 45-70 rifle or 30-30 rifle to protect us from bears. MOST of the time, he took his 45-70 rifle. He always takes one extra handgun on a trip and he carries a gun on a daily basis. The Yaak, MT area is right below BC, Canada and has a LOT of BIG black bears and is known for grizzly bears too. (I always had one or two guns with me too.)

Up around the Bob Marshall wilderness and all around that area last fall/winter (Closer to home.), he had his Marlin Classic 45-70 with him since it was in a different type of terrain and there are grizzly and big black bears in that area. His buddy packed his own .308 rifle in some famous brand and style.

Update on my husband's HENRY 45-70 rifle.

His HENRY rifle shoots very well and it has a very smooth action. (He is an outstanding shooter.)

He uses the original iron sights on this rifle and he does not plan on changing this.

(He does have a couple of scopes on a few of his other hunting rifles though.)

He reloads for this rifle and has shot various loads in it.

He has been shooting 6 or 7 days per week as I have previously mentioned on this forum since he retired using various firearms.

His HENRY rifle has performed flawlessly and I wanted to mention this again in case the HENRY company people read this forum on a regular basis.

So I am sending a big thank you to the employees who work for the HENRY company and to Mr. Anthony I. too. You make great rifles!
