Quick stop at the range

I had to make a trip over to a friends house that takes me right past the shooting range for my hunting club. After leaving his home I made a stop to see if any one left any brass lying around or in the brass can. No brass but a lot of steel cases so I struck out this time. There was a guy there that just got finished shooting his 10/22 at 50 and a 100yds. I had my CZ Ultra Lux behind my truck seat and a bulk pack of auto match.(I hate auto match) I asked if he was done shooting and if he was going to take his targets with him. He said he didn't want anyone to see them they were bad. I said I would shoot his targets already up if he didn't care. I shot 5 at the 50yd. target using the hole at the top for my aiming point. All five were in the hole with two cutting the top edge of the hole. Then I shot twelve at the 100 yd. target and knew they would be low so I held on the red bull in the center. My 12 shots were at the bottom and the 12th shot is the bottom right that made the group 1 9/16" but sounded different than the others in being a lot quieter. So I had 1 9/16" vertical and about 1 1/2" horizontal. Fair for this rifle at a 100 yds. with a 2-7 Leupold and with auto match and wind stirring some.
Then he asked if I was into handguns. I told him I don't have much use for them. He said he couldn't get his Mark II Ruger to shoot on. So I shot a few shots with it and he had the sights way off. I adjusted the sights and it shot real well for me. He said "I wish I could shoot like that". He then said "I thought you didn't have much use for a hand gun". I said I don't have much use for one. I didn't say I don't know how to use one. He got a big grin and said "Thanks Quigley." He must have saw one of my favorite movies.
Left target was the CZ shooting at the hole at the top with the line around it. The other holes was his 10/22. Right target is CZ 12 shots at the bottom at a 100yds. The others was the 10/22 at a 100.

Then he asked if I was into handguns. I told him I don't have much use for them. I said I don't have much use for one. I didn't say I don't know how to use one. He got a big grin and said "Thanks Quigley."

Fine shooting, bandit. If I had to pick one 22 for 100 yard work, that CZ UL would be it. Glad to see another fan of the UL.

Cz = Most bang for the buck in a well built accurate rifle. Made in the Czech Republic with some old school craftsmanship thrown in. The 452 was just replaced by the 455 and now the 452 is being sought after by a lot of folks wanting the older model over the 455 with it's switch barrel feature. Can have problems with the torque on the barrel screws with the 455's causing some accuracy issues. I had three 455's and won't buy another one. I like the screwed in barrel of the 452's. Here is my 4 favorite 452's. These are the Full stock models. Top two are 22 LR and the next down is 22 Mag. and the bottom is the 17 HMR.

I bought a cz for the farm an hung nice glass on it, my first five shots were four in a ragged hole with one just out. That'll do. The wife calls the cz hers, and controls the pesky squirrel population with it. They are always getting into the chicken feeders... or used to.

That's a great story, bandit, and I love the Stutzen/FS stocked CZ's, but they are rarer than hen's teeth over here.

I have a CZ453 Premium and a 455 Varmint. I replaced the brown laminated stock on the 455 with a Boyd's stock, and I just swap them whenever the mood takes me.

I don't get much chance to use them at 100 yards, but when I do the 453 is normally marginally more accurate. It also has a set trigger, which helps with the accuracy. The normal trigger pull is around 2 - 3lbs, and the set trigger is around 6 - 8 ounces.
