This commemoration took place this week-end, and there are probably others also happening around the country. They remind all of us of the bravery of those who served during WWII --- and other conflicts. These veterans, the remaining Filipino & American survivors, most certainly carry vastly sad memories of this war incident:
"Bataan Death March was the forcible transfer by the Imperial Japanese Army of 60,000–80,000 Filipino and American prisoners of war from Saisaih Point, Bagac, Bataan and Mariveles to Camp O'Donnell, Capas, Tarlac, via San Fernando, Pampanga, where the prisoners were loaded onto trains. The transfer began on April 9, 1942, after the three-month Battle of Bataan in the Philippines during World War II."
The survivor in this story will reached his 100th birthday this month.

Yeah, PT
That was horrific indeed. I'm sure the Japanese looked upon the Filipinos as traitors in a sense, but they were equally harsh on the Americans. Ironically, Japanese people you meet today are the nicest, kindest people around.
And lets not forget that some of the American Civil War camps ( on both sides) were almost as bad.

I had an uncle who was in the Air Force during WWII and who was a Japanese POW. He NEVER spoke of it; not one word, not one time.
