New member from Calif. Serial # question

Post by Stuffer » Mon Mar 27, 2017 12:03 pm

Hi, I'm an old fart (66) from Calif, and new to the forum. I recently got bit by the "Henry bug" last year when the Long Ranger came out and knew I had to have one. I just purchased one in 308 and while I was at it also got the frontier model in 22 mag. Now I get to wait 10 days to take possession of them in accordance with Calif. Law. While doing the paperwork the gun shop owner said that according to the serial number on the 308 it appears that it was the 10th gun made. Not that it matters to me but that seemed hard to believe. Does anyone here know how those serial numbers are assigned to the gun. The serial # is "308LRS00010. I'm just curious. I bought the gun to hunt with so the number is not at all important to me. Thanks, and glad to be aboard.

Ok, I contacted henry customer service regarding the serial # (308LRS00010) by e-mail and got a quick reply. Here is the info I got. They did not verify the number itself so I will assume that is was the tenth gun of that model produced. As far as the308LRS part goes the S signifies that the gun came with sights. The first version that came out did not have sights on them. The 308LR is pretty self explanatory.

Welcome and here is the real answer.

You have the 10th rifle made from that particular numbering series which yours looks like standard production run for the sighted model for us normal customers.

What I mean is, Henry is excellent about providing for special serial numbers for example, They might have created 10,000 with say a boyscout S/N, another 20k with a Henry employee serial number run, and so on.

Thanks for the info. I was curious how that worked. As I mentioned previously The number wasn't important to me ,just wondering what it meant.
