Where to find the Big Boy Steel 357 Carbine

I am having trouble finding a new (or used) Big Boy Steel Carbine in .357.

Any suggestions?

have your dealer call Henry .... they have a solid history of helping find available rifles

1. Get your dealer to order one
2. Slickguns.com (they are showing numerous online sellers who have them, both brass and steel)
3. Davidson's Gun Genie (they have one brass one in stock)
4. Call Henry and ask them to find one at a store near you

Thank you I have indeed found them through slickguns.com
My locals have looked but they are limited by which distributor they use do not show the Carbine version in Steel and .357
They will make $50 on the FFL though.

I was in your boat just two months ago, but I was looking for the Big Boy steel in .327fed/mag.
I emailed Henry customer service, and I got the following advice.

I was told to go to the Henry repeating arms website and look for the "contact us" link.

I was told to let Mr. Imperata know,
1) Which rifle model I was looking for
2) The name and contact information for my preferred FFL

I was told Mr Imperata would personally see to it that my FFL received the exact rifle I desired.
I sent Mr. Imperata the requisite information and received a reply in less than 48 hours informing me that my rifle would be drop-shipped factory direct to my FFL!

Full disclosure, I'm still waiting on my rifle, but they said they will ship the new calibers in March 2017. I guess it IS still March...

That is 10 I have listed. There are a few more. Sort through them, pick the one you want based on price, shipping cost and wood (in the cases where the picture is a picture of the actual gun rather than just a "stock photo") and order it up. If you have never bought off Gunbroker don't worry. It is safe and secure so long as you do a little minimum research on the reputation of the seller. Need help? lemme know. You can probably have your new Henry .357 carbine in hand for $700 or a bit less all in.

Slickguns worked great...found it is pretty much $630 with shipping plus FFL.
Just waiting to get confirmation from my FFL to confirm all is good to complete order.

Thanks for the tips. I would buy one locally if they had one....not many .357 and the one I found was brass.

Will let ya'll know how it goes with them.
None of my local stores even show it on their distributor lists as available now.

Follow up...dealer called me within an hour after order to say he got my FFL and that firearm would ship
and gave me his cell in case I had any questions during the process.

This is my 4th online gun purchase over the years and never had that kind of followup.

If you are going to hunt with this gun then shoot target practice with it in .357. Practice with what you hunt with. If you intend to use it only as a plinker then use 38. Cheaper. Factory ammo in .357 is likely to have similar point of impact and similar groups. .38 will have DRAMATICALLY different point of impact than .357.

In my experience you don't often pay much if anything more buying from an LGS...except for perhaps the sales tax. Like everything there are exceptions. I've gotten a couple of REALLY GOOD DEALS on GB. But mostly, guns I have purchased on GB have come in at about the same price as an LGS give or take $25 (once you include FFL transfer fee and shipping). IMO the big advantages to GB are as follows...

1) Getting a fairly good idea of what the real "street price" should be. If you have a number of close-by LGS this can be a be a big help in negotiating the price. Take the best price you can find on GB, add $50-$60 to that price (shipping and FFL fee) and ask your LGS if he will match that price "out the door". Of course this applies to a gun you intend to buy for cash. Most GB sellers will charge an extra 2-3% for a credit card purchase.

2) Getting to "virtually" look at several different actual in stock guns rather than asking an LGS to order one for you and then simply taking whatever they received. It's a way to find guns with nicer wood.

3) If you don't have a lot of LGS with substantial stocks of guns closeby you can save a lot of cash by not having to drive all over the countryside to look at 2 or 3 different guns. This was especially true when gas was over $4 per gallon or more.

4) If you are going on a hunting trip 6 months or longer in the future and plan to buy a specific gun for the trip and it's a plastic-stocked gun where looks are not an issue then you can follow GB closely (they will send you email notifications of new offerings of the gun you want) and you can usually save yourself about $50 plus sales tax. Not bad savings on a $500-$600 gun.

5) If you are looking for a specific gun that is no longer in production, hard to find and so are looking for a used gun or a NOS gun then GB may be the only way to find the gun you want.

GB is just another way to buy guns. It's not right for everybody but for some folks it can be a great resource.

Another example that GB is great for some folks, OK for others and not-so-great for others. GB is nothing more than another tool in your belt when it comes time to buy a gun. I LIKE GB because I have been well pleased with it but that is just me and the state I live in (Ct). There is no perfect gun buying solution for everyone.
