Your top 2 most used rimfires
Your top 2 most used rimfires
Stole this topic from RFC. What two rimfires that you own do you use the most?
My answer today is temporary. Currently the two I shoot most are:
1. Colt Officer's Model revolver
2. Browning Challenger semi-auto
This won't last long, though, as once spring gets to Wisconsin (if it ever does), one of the two handguns will get bumped by my CZ rifle.
Until about a 6 or 8 months ago my answer would have been completely different. For several years my two "go to" 22's were:
1. Ruger 10/22
2. Henry H001 Classic
Between those two guns, I've probably shot over 100,000 rounds of .22 LR. I think they are still my two favorites even if they don't get used as much any more.

Henry Golden Boy H004 and the Henry Classic Lever Action H001. About the only time I shoot the Marlin 925R and the old Springfield single shot is when I am teaching the grandkids at the range. I hardly ever shoot either of my .22 revolvers.
Re: Your top 2 most used rimfires
Only two rimfires I have, both in .22LR:
Henry H001TLP Small Game Carbine
Bond Arms Snake Slayer IV (S/A derringer)

My two are my Henry Mare's Leg and Uberti Stallion.
Absolutely the most fun to shoot.
My Smith & Wesson Victory is running a close third.

Usually, one of my Ruger Single Sixes, though I am working on adding some other brands of 22 single action revolvers.

CZ 455 Lux - 22lr.
Savage Rascal - 22lr.
My answer would have been different many years ago and, in fact, even a few years ago before my arthritis and old accident issues got worse. My former handguns and former heavier lever action rifles in RF (22lr and 22wmr) would be on my list depending on my mood and season.
Plus many of my former CF handguns and a few former CF lever action rifles would be on the list but you asked for RF firearms here.
I don't own, shoot or carry handguns any longer.

Re: Your top 2 most used rimfires
That's a tough question, because I like shooting all my .22's, but at the moment it would be my H003T and a Weatherby XXII semi auto.
Tomorrow it might be different.

Re: Your top 2 most used rimfires
My answer would be the same as on RFC. For hunting in the fall it would be my CZ 452 FS 22 Magnum. For just going out to shoot and have fun plinking shot shell hulls it would be my 39A Marlin from 1975. The Marlin is my scabbard rifle for going to the mountain on my 4-wheeler. Great trigger on this 39A and nice peep sight and this is my 39A I don't mind it seeing some hard use.

My wife and I share this 39A on our rides and call this our "beater" 39A. Here she is on the mountain at about 12* and never complains.

Re: Your top 2 most used rimfires
I only have one dedicated .22lr. My Henry H004S Silverboy, and for a handgun I have a .22 lr Kimber conversion for my Colt 1911 government series 70. I gave most of my .22 collection between the 3 Kids prior to moving from Commiefornia to the Great State of Tennessee.
I shoot the H004S the most, cuz its such a sweet rifle, and it digests all kinds of ammo. The Kimber is finicky, and likes the CCI Mini mags pretty much exclusively.

Re: Your top 2 most used rimfires
I don't own very many firearms. Among them are three .22LRs; a Henry H001, a Heritage Rough Rider, and a Ranger single shot bolt action that could be about 80 years old. I've fired all three, but I take the H001 and the HRR to the range most often because they make a great pair and they're fun to shoot.
H006M BBB .357 - H001 Classic .22LR - Uberti/Taylors & Co. SmokeWagon .357 5.5" - Uberti/Taylors & Co. RanchHand .22LR 5.5" - Colt King Cobra Carry 2" - Colt Official Police 38spl 4"

Re: Your top 2 most used rimfires
Great thread whether we ripped it off from RFC or not.
Much like CT above, mine would be the H001 and HRR.
The reasons are simple. Between the two they shoot about any kind of .22, the rough rider can also shoot WMR.
Despite what you might hear at RFC (after who knows how many posts have been deleted), both are workhorses. No mechanical genius myself, I was able to completely disassemble my Rough Rider and replace some parts Heritage sent me. No big deal, and I think the reason the part broke was I let the screws get so loose the gun was basically falling apart. My bad on that one. I also replace some wear items, after all, it had a few thousand rounds.
Won't waste time on Henry support discussion..........
Honorable mention to the '89 Marlin N25. Awaiting parts, it could find it's way to Gold or Silver status.
And the .22 I wish I could shoot more, the Marlin XT22ML in .22WMR (below).

Re: Your top 2 most used rimfires
I call it our beater because a previous owner added a funky looking wooden grip cap that I took about a inch of wood off it to make it look decent. It is glued on and cut at a bad angle to make it back to normal. That is why it is used but not abused by us when we go out in the weather and with the 4-wheeler. Here is a few that I would not use that way.BigAl52 wrote:If thats a beater 39 A then I want to see the nice one. Albandit1250 wrote:My answer would be the same as on RFC.
