Henry's new .410 Lever Shotgun!
I already have one of these on order! They ship in Feb. or March! Who ever gets there hands on one first, let us know your thoughts on your new shotgun! Always wanted one of the old Marlin or Winchester .410 Lever shotguns but did not want to pay the price. A like new one of these costs almost twice as much as the Henry will sell for! I do not think the shotgun will be very practical but I want one anyways!
Re: Henry's new .410 Lever Shotgun!
Huntlee, I feel bad that no one else responded to your thread. Henry has been announcing quite a few new products recently. So many that it's hard to keep up. While I'm not really a shotgun guy, I am a little surprised by Henry's decision to make shotguns. It'll be interesting to see whether they are successful.
Re: Henry's new .410 Lever Shotgun!
I have more shotguns than I need right now, but I might be tempted o get a lever action .410bore.
First though is one of the new carbines in .327Federal magnum.

Great-looking .410 --- congrats. I especially like the beautiful patterns and colors in your wood stock. First one I've seen other than on the Henry web site.
Curious as to what you think of the buckhorn sights on a shotgun? How do you like them? Sounds like they worked well for you out-of-the-box. Thanks especially for the great photo. Enjoy.

While at the range today, I also shot some Brenneke slugs. Not .410 ammo; rather 20-ga, 3/4 oz. K.O. Slugs http://www.brennekeusa.com/hunting-ammunition/kotm/. I think you have a good slug choice for your new Henry .410.
At 25 yards, this Foster-type 20-ga K.O. is rated at 1334 FPS, and that's where I sighted in my shotgun. This ammo is quite highly rated in a number of reports I've read, and I do like the way it shoots. I think it will be quite accurate at the 40-60 yard distances; 75 yards would be a good stretch for me. Thanks also for your ammo comments.

Re: Henry's new .410 Lever Shotgun!
Interesting sight equipment....thanks for the links.
I also have elder eyes. But I just modified the sights on my 20-gauge, and now have a Skinner rear ghost ring and front bead. Worked with Skinner sights to mount these on a shotgun rail. Did you catch my post on these mods? http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2398 It was a cool project and I had great support from the Skinner company. An extra for me with this mod is that the added height of the barrel rail provided me with a better cheek weld. I've not had that consistent positioning ever before.
Sure do like the ghost ring and bead combo.....makes target acquisition really easy for me.

This is the easiest solution if you don't wanna pay money. Stock front sight, these bad boyz, and done!

PT, nice shotgun. It is about making what works best and there is no doubt the ghost make quick work of sighting.
The way you worked that rail is genius!

This could be a lot of fun.
I don't know how expensive .410 is to shoot; never had one.
