I think Midway has Lyman Globes for about $31 each. The Lee Shaver inserts run about $20 for a metal card with 10 different inserts.

Probably not? - like any iron sight it depends on the lighting - but I guess you could paint it white/red/orange/green for contrast... I like the cross/circle inserts because they are easier to line up with the rear peep - circle in a circle. You will have fun trying all the different shapes/thicknesses - it only takes about 30 seconds to change em out. Got my Lyman in and it's all installed. Thank God for the good tools I have. It sure is quality made.
Right now I'm using the insert that came installed (one of their circles). I have also ordered the Lee Shaver inserts, but they have not arrived yet. I did a good job in getting the sight centered, so the windage ought to be pretty dang close. As you know, I bought a taller Lyman because my elevation was off 0.050. Going to the range early next week and will report back on how it "sighted in".
Oh -- I just noticed you live over in the Shenandoah Valley. I ride my motorcycle over there often. One of our favorite rides is inside Massanutten Mt, the beautiful valley is called Fort Valley. One of the prettiest places on the planet earth. Also steeped in history as this was where Stonewall hid his army from the yanks.

We've driven Rt 211 across Massanutten Mt numerous times, but we've never been on Fort Valley Rd - we'll have to put it on the list. The Shenandoah Valley is a biker's dream - great rides everywhere - Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, Rt 11, etc.. I've got an old Harley Roadking and thoroughly enjoy riding on all the scenic country roads around here in the summer - nearly as much fun as plinking with a Henry...

I've got a "getting up there" Goldwing, 1999. I'm pushing 140,000 miles on it and have ridden it in 48 of the 50 states. Still need Florida and Hawaii. Four of us took our bikes to Alaska about 7 years ago. 31 days and 12,500 miles. I've been having good luck with USPS. As you know, I got my Lyman Globe yesterday -- well, I got the Lee Shaver inserts today. I see what you mean about their precision. This is a heck of a setup, I'll tell you that. I think I'll take another picture when the sun comes out again.
