Receiver Question

to standardize manufacturing, it would see logical all the receivers on all rifles of a given caliber would be built alike .... example : under their Big Boy group of 44 mags they offer 8 different lines of rifles .... discounting color, if the receivers on all of them are built alike they would be interchangeable ... if a person had a good looking Big Boy that he was concerned about taking hunting and scratching the brass receiver, he could buy a received normally used on a Big Boy Steel and switch them .... if he wished to carry this a bit further, he could do the same with the brass barrel band .... the reverse could be true for a fellow wanting to dress up a Big Boy Steel when used for a wall hanger

One issue with that may be the location of the serial number. If the receiver is serialized (my Big Boy steel is), then each one would have to be sold as a firearm with all the attendant paperwork. Not an insurmountable problem, but something to consider.

Another issue is the difficulty of swapping barrels. Not like swapping a lever loop.

For all the trouble and expense, it is likely easier and cheaper to just buy the Henry's you want.

I agree that Henry might be able to do more standardizing on their receivers as to scope mounting options, but the point Clovis makes about the serial number pretty much kills the deal about buying extra receivers. Having to do the paperwork and fees for the background check just to buy a receiver makes it cost prohibitive.

agree, I need to get one of mine out and look at it .... didn't realize the number was on the receiver, will have to take a look ....

That is what makes the rimfire Henrys so great. You can easily change the receiver cover.
