The 327 is a great cartridge , but only duplicate a 32-20 which has been around for over 100 years or you could call it rimmed 30 carbine . The 32-20 was designed to feed in a lever gun without the hiccups of a straight wall case . A hand loader can make the 32-20 out shine the 327 super easy . There is a ton of of 32-20 rifles out there . sold all the guns below

O.K. the "fix" is in!
Well, sort of...

I emailed Henry customer service to inquire about a more precise answer to ship dates for the Big Boy steel in .327 than "March 2017".
I promptly received a reply telling me mid-March.
He also suggested that I email Mr Anthony Imperata to request my rifle.
I was told to fill out a request form detailing which rifle I want and to identify my FFL.
I was told Mr Imperata would make sure my FFL received the rifle I was looking for.

I never knew I had a friend in the gun manufacturing business.
C'mon March!

C'mon March!
Received a call from my friendly neighborhood FFL telling me that Henry had called regarding my rifle.
Henry told my FFL that I had contacted them requesting this rifle. They asked which distributor he wanted to use and he told them Davison's Gallery of Guns.
Henry told my FFL that they would charge his account with Davison's, but they are going to drop-ship my rifle direct from the factory to my FFL!
The girl at Henry said it's not just possible, but probable that my rifle will be at my FFL before Davison's receives their first shipment!

I guess the lady at Davison's told my FFL that this model is going to be a hot commodity, and therefore be somewhat difficult to get hold of through normal channels.
She told my FFL that new models generally disappear off the gun shop shelves pretty fast.

If you want one of these first-run rifles, I suggest you email Mr. Anthony Imperata and request one or you might be waiting a while.

I now have a set of dies, primers, 500 brand new shiny Star-Line .327fed/mag cases, 100pcs of Meister Bullet Company 115gr (.312) .32-20 RNFP, 500pcs of Mangus Bullet Company 100gr (.313) SWC, and a few hundred powder-coated 93gr (.312) LRN cast bullets that a friend cast for me.
Does anyone have any pet loads they'd care to share?

I load well within published data, but the .327fed/mag is a relatively new cartridge and data is not as wide-spread as other cartridges.
I'm just looking for what others may have tried, and how successful they were, or were not.

Also, would anyone care to guess what kind of velocity increase one might expect when moving from the 4.2" barrel on my SP101 to the 20" barrel my new Henry will have?

This looks promising...

Does that look right?

Mgderf, let me say I currently don't own a 327, but have been following a ton of post and articles on them. The sight that has the best posts on the 327 loads for revolves is http://singleactions.proboards.com. There is also an article in Handloader by Brian Pierce, February 2015, #294. Those loads are for the Single Seven, but will work fine I'm the lever gun. As for velocity go to http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com. This will give you real velocity per inch of barrel length and it is generally pretty close depending on variables in individual guns. I'll be picking up a 327 Henry as well and hope it'll chamber the 140gr cast bullets that seem to make the revolvers shine (Ruger Hawkeye, and Blackhawk). I hope this information helps. You can PM me if you need more data.

I've not seen any data for a 140gr pill for the .327.
The heaviest bullet I've found data for are 115gr.

I just re-read your response, I don't believe there is any published data for the heavier bullets, they are all molds. Todd Corder (125gr), Miha (Sledgehammer 140 gr., flying fist 154 gr). They are too long for the Single seven but work in Blackhawks. Take a look at the forum I mentioned and you will find very knowledgeable reloaders and shooter talking about the loads. Also take a look at 32-20 bullets, you might find a few heavier than the 115gr. It will all depend on the length from crimp to nose and COAL as if they will chamber in the new Henry.

One thing I've noticed about .327 magnum is that factory ammo is sure not all that easy to find. If I ever get a gun chambered for it, I'm gonna have to reload for it for sure.

I agree on the reloading vs factory. Not to mention it will be a pretty inexpensive round to shoot when you reload.

When I bought my first .327mag I also bought about 500 rounds of factory ammo of different flavors, but all in .327.
I then laid in a small stock of .32H&R mag and a bit of .32S&W long.
I found a set of dies for .32H&R mag at a good price and then Star-Line started making .327mag cases, so I bought 500 of those.

I have a decent supply of powder and primers so, I'm just waiting on my rifle.
C'mon Henry. Ship them already...

I am really waiting for your range report. I'm kind of surprised we haven't seen any prerelease articles.

I know exactly what you mean.
I bugged Henry, and every other lever gun maker for 3 years to produce this rifle.
There must have been at least a low roar for such a rifle or they would never had produced them.

Still, with any new offering, one might expect some degree of fanfare.
I didn't even learn these were going to be produced until late January of this year.
Once I found them mentioned and started looking into them I found out the announcement was made late last year.

I talked to a lady at Henry and she said they are expecting these .327fed/mag Big Boys to fly off the shelves.
She told me to email Mr. Imperata to ensure I received one from the first run.

Maybe they feel they have enough of a customer base, and word of mouth advertising to spread the word without spending a bunch on ads.
At any rate, I was told the .327's would be shipping mid-late March.
Well, here it is, now the 8th, and I can barely contain my excitement.

as noted early in this thread, I know next to nothing about 327's .... for those who have 327 revolvers, I can understand the desire to have a matching rifle .... to me that alone is an excellent reason to want one .... what I don't understand is the attraction for the cartridge .... what can it do that a 357 can't ? ....

Nothing.
Now, with that said, let me explain the attraction.
The diminutive little .327 Federal magnum operates at pressures equal to, and sometimes exceeding the .357magnum, It produces muzzle energy pretty much on line with the .357magnum.
It produces muzzle velocity and ft/lbs of energy greater than the .38special+P, but it does all of this with 20% less recoil than the .357magnum.

It's a fun little round, and won't beat you up like a .357 can out of a 2" barrel.
It's also a bit nicer to teach new shooters on than the .357, and cheaper to load for.

Other than that...

info appreciated, makes sense to me .... a 357 derringer is not a fun gun to shoot .... if the 327 can approximate the power with less recoil, that would be a good thing

My question is, how loud is it? I have to suspect it to be like a 30 carbine. LOUD!
