impressive penetration ... one of our sons literally signed the papers yesterday to purchase 26 acres of land located 5 minutes from our home .... as this is being typed, he is out there the first time with his concealed carry to fire a few rounds .... we hope to develop a 200 yard range out there .... we hope to be able to setup a bunch of steel targets of various sizes and at various distances

I just watched Quigley Down Under and Shiloh Rifle Mfg was credited with building the rifle in the movie. Cool. Made in USA.

I have one and had two at one point but sold the 45-70. I still have a Long Range express with extra fancy wood and other extras. I use to shoot it in long range competition but I havent shot it in about 10 years. I went to the factory to pick it up years ago. The Bryan Family was very nice to let me come and see there factory. I wanted to sell it but the wife says no way so its in the safe to pass on to whoever because I have no siblings to give it to. But when it comes to an 1874 buffalo rifle theres none better. Al

Thanks Cate The sharps were only a small part of his stash. She got about $20 K worth from his guns and she gave me one of his large Fort Knox safes. I would do it a hundred times again as he was the one that really got me into shooting and reloading etc. almost 50 years ago. I miss him everyday even though he lived several counties away.

I can totally understand a good friendship like that!

I like their 1874 QUIGLEY model .... https://shilohrifle.com/rifles/1874-sha ... -clone-en/ but I don't like it enough to justify spending $3,533.00 .... I wonder what level 45-70 ammo these Shiloh Sharps are built for .... I can understand the purist being interested in black powder versions but for me having to use black powder would instantly eliminate it from consideration

I only shot 15.0 of Unique in my 50-70 Sharps . My sharps NEVER seen a black powder charge in it in the time I owned it .

My buddy made this cover for my Flinter . FREE He paid $150 just for the skin and hand tied it like they did 200 yrs ago . He also made the possible bag and powder horn FREE ....... Thank you Ron........ R.I.P my friend

I can't think of the two posters names right now but on three very OLD forums there were two gentlemen that ordered Sharps rifles. One gun forum does not exist any longer.

Both of the gentlemen decided that they wanted something very specific in their lives.

One man sold almost all (?) of his guns especially a BUNCH of his rifles in various calibers including a 45-70 rifle to buy one Sharps rifle and he has never regretted it the last that I heard or read several years ago. He wanted a 45-70 caliber rifle in the Sharps brand.

The other man bought a 45-70 caliber Sharps rifle too.

I remember some of the old pictures from those old forums and from one forum that I used to read but don't any longer.

If my husband ever decided that he finally wanted a Sharps rifle - he could have it as far as I am concerned. I know that he would get it in a 45-70 caliber because he LOVES that caliber. He has one favorite load for the '45-70' caliber and another 45-70 reload that he uses less often.

They are beautiful rifles!

When I was long range shooting there were people using smokless from time to time. XMP5744 was popular amoung people who didnt want to use black. But really black isnt that bad to use in a single shot. It doenst clean any harder you just use different products to clean with. A little ballistol in the barrel or I even used Kroil as a bore protectant afterwards and your good to go. I havent shot my sharps in about 10 years bore is still as good as new. Al
