Loop levers

I have only handled a Big Boy once and that was just for a few moments. I am curious as to how many of you folks end up buying a loop lever? My hands are big but not overly so. I usually buy XL gloves, but in a pinch I can fit into a Large size. If I wear shooting gloves, will it be more comfortable with a loop? I see where they cost around $50.

We have one on our H001. We like it.
Have thought about getting one for the Big Boy steel in .357.

Haven't done it yet.

Hey Sloop - welcome to the forum.

I've got large loop levers on all four of my Henrys - they just feel better to me - with or without gloves. With the standard lever, you kind of have to concentrate to push the lever down and away to cycle the action. With the large levers, you can just push forward - without even thinking about it. It's kind of hard to describe, but it just feels easier - more intuitive. The next time you're in a LGS with a large loop lever model Henry, try it - you'll see for yourself...

we have large loops on our Henry 357 mag and 44 mag .... they have straight stocks and we really like the large loops .... our 45-70 has a pistol grip stock for which they do not offer a large loop .... we wish they could figure out how to make one for it

I put them on my Frontier 22, my Steel 30-30, and just recently my Big Boy Steel 357. The reason did this is for when I hunt with them. I remember as a kid hunting with a Win 94 that when I was wearing gloves my fingers would go numb when I had them all pinched into the smaller loop. No such problem with my large loop rifles. To me they are very practical as well as good looking.

I will be picking up the rifle Wed or Thurs. So I will for sure see if they have one outfitted with a loop.

I added one to my 41 mag BBS, mainly for the looks.
But it is way more comfortable.

Sure did -- I am one of a fast-dying breed, the last of the ole pig boat sailors. Blueback was the last commissioned diesel boat. 580 class which also included the Bonefish and Barbel. Interesting design as we had the tear-drop (Albacore/Skipjack) hull, but we were extremely quiet when on batteries. Put the two together and you can probably figure out what our mission was.

I love the look of the large lever . SASS / CAS shooters make the hole smaller to increase the speed of levering gun and soften the blow on the finger .

I like large loops but the OEM large loop just doesn't do anything for me. These two loops are custom made. The one on the left is the same shape as Chuck Connors used in The Rifleman. On the right is the John Wayne loop from Rio Bravo and many of his other movies.

Yea - I think I know what that mission was - I served on three different 688 class SSNs that probably did something very similar... Great to have another submariner on the forum - good luck with that Big Boy 45LC - great choice for a Henry.

Back in early 2014 I emailed Anthony asking if they are going to offer a large loop for the 45-70. He told me they were working on one as we spoke and should be available in the fall. I thought great. But as we all know that never happened. So, in October of 2015 I ordered a .44 mag. heirloom steel with a special serial number. When the rifle arrived it was in .357 mag. I told my LGS that it was supposed to be a .44 mag and they agreed as that is what they ordered. Now we had a huge problem as now they were not able to make a .44 mag with that serial number as it now was taken. So, between Anthony and Todd Vance ( the owner of my LGS) they convinced the ATF that they would destroy the rifle and build another one in .44 mag with my serial number. Anthony then emailed me and told me he was coming to Vances Sporting Goods and he would like me to come over to meet him. Well I did and we talked and gave me a few hats and what not. I then asked him what happened to the large loop idea for the 45-70. He told me that every design just looked to damn ugly so they dropped the project but if I really wanted one to email him in a few weeks and he would send me one as he had a few of them left. Well I did and he said he would send me one but in about 20 minutes he emailed me back and told me he could not do that as one of his workers told him they never checked the levers for correct lock up. He told me to box up the rifle and he would send me a shipping label which he did and they would make sure the lever was fitted correctly and safe. One week later got it back and it was super nice. What other company would do this. Oh, also, for Christmas he sent me a big box of hats, cups, stocking hats and a Henry tin sign for my out building. Mr. Imperato is a very nice man and only cares about his customers being happy. I know I will be a customer for life.
