New Stainless Lever

I just wanted to stop by and share my new stainless lever. It's a Marlin 336SS in 30-30. Looks great and shoots great.



I plan to add a few things. I also plan to hunt with it!

I had a nice 336 that was blued, but sold it foolishly. So, I decided to get another. I'm a sucker for stainless, so I decided to do it right this time. Paid a little more, but well worth it.

I looked at a Marlin '94 Cowboy in SS if memory serves. 30-30. In my opinion the Henry all weather Big Boy would have looked better done like your SS Marlin. I guess they'd still have to do something with the wood though.

I have three Marlin rifles Only one has the crossbolt saftey. I don't see why Marlin didn't use the transfer bar except that maybe they were not willing to pay a royalty Ruger.. The Henrys shoot just fine and there is nothing mess with, just cock the hammer and pull the trigger.

Yea, I'm not wild about the safety... Better than the Rossi 92s though. The Rossi safety is awful (and seemingly an afterthought).

My husband has an older CT made Marlin 336SS in 30-30 and he really likes it. (Walnut/stainless steel.)

When my husband went down to keeping only 'one' 30-30 rifle... he kept the Marlin 336SS as I mentioned above. He sold the Marlin 336C (Walnut/blued.) that I was using for a time frame. He shot it but I shot it more than he did for several years. He decided that he wanted that Marlin rifle in walnut/stainless steel. He does not regret keeping the one in stainless steel.

We sold all of the Winchester rifles and one of the last 3 Wins was in 30-30 too.

Nice looking rifle. I looked at a couple of Marlins the other day at the LGS - they looked good and seemed to function well. looks like Marlin may be finally getting over their QA issues since their buyout and move - I hope it's true - they make some great looking classic lever guns...

I hope so too! I have a Remington Model 7 sitting at the LGS. I hope that is problem free as well. I ordered it from CDNN. I like Remington and Marlin, but the past decade has been a bit rocky.

My husband shoots his reloaded rounds the most out of all of his guns too. He has reloaded for over 40 years.

We do have a bit of factory made ammunition on hand in 30-30 and in 45acp but not much of it.

Nothing wrong with factory, I just enjoy reloading my own for certain firearms. Levers, bolts, and revolvers generally get reloads. Semi-autos are a mix.
