Big boy 45 colt headed back to henry

Post by Smoke4320 » Thu Feb 02, 2017 8:10 am

Well my new Big Boy 45 colt is headed back to Henry.
In about 30 rds total I have had to take the gun apart twice to get a cartridge freed from UNDER the cartridge lifter
Emailed Henry my problem. Within 2 hrs they sent me a return label
So now the wait begins.
Guess I get to see for myself how good their warranty service is
No mad at all ...any mechanical item can fail
It's how they handle it that counts

Once they fix it I'm sure it will work like my 45C...flawless.

They will fix it asap. We will be interested to hear from you about what they say went wrong. Henry actions are very similar to a Marlin 336. Getting a cartridge caught under the lifter is sort of common with Marlins. I've never had it happen twice in a short time, though.

I've only had to send one Henry rifle back and it had to go back twice. Each time it was two weeks or less from the day I sent it.
I was very happy with the Henry CS. Even had a communication from Mr. Imperato concerning my problem and he sent me some Henry gifts (hat, two camp mugs, & a metal sign)

I had a recall on my Remington 887. The bolt had to be replaced with a new design bolt. It was over 2 months before I got it back.
Was not impressed with Remington CS.

Rifle arrived.. Repair ticket says replaced the bolt
Loaded the 5 rds, fed and shot fine
repeated process and so far it looks good
Hopefully Sunday I can ring it out with 30 or so rds and see if issue rears its head again

I am curious as to when the gun malfunctioned? Was it during normal operation or reloading?
