I had a very early Glock model 17 many years ago. It had a very low serial number. One of the first in the country I guess. I always thought it was ugly. I still do. I gave that model 17 to my ex- inlaws neighbor. He was a great guy. I don't regret it.

Now, I have a Glock 21 that I have had for many years. It's a great functioning gun. It never has let me down. It eats anything I have fed it. It's the only Glock I own and the only one I plan to own. They are a great work tool for police and the military. That's what won me over. It's an easy shooting .45acp. So much so, I bought one. It's a bit large for concealed carry except for winter time.

Thanks for your comments about my family. The Glock 21 is a fine pistol no doubt! My "SF" model had issues with the ambidextrous magazine release and was seen as a 'problem child' and was discontinued. The picatinny rails on the SF models were not seen as desirable. I found it to be a plus for a bedside gun for adding a Surefire flashlight. Finding holsters to fit it were a problem also. I can mail in my lower and Glock will upgrade my 21 to a Gen 4. At this time I am not experiencing problems with the ambi release and I found a Fobus holster that works just fine with it. If you read my "Range Report" I had an experienced shooter look my 21SF over and he said the barrel needs replacing to obtain better accuracy. The 21SF runs smooth and eats everything I've fed it. In capable hands, it shoots much better- I saw it firsthand on Saturday at the range.

I have plans of converting it to a 10mm hunting piece (Lone Wolf 6") by this fall if all goes well. Even among your Glock lovers there seems to be highly favored models and the forgotten models like mine. I seem to gravitate to the runt of the liter in about everything I do just to be the oddball.

GLOCK'S are a piece of crap ....They go bang every time , feeds any ammo you put it , never break or wear out , only 34 parts and not 1 of them need to be hand fit to the gun or need a gunsmith to repair them . They shoot like target guns and they are not high dollar guns . There is over 20 company's copying and build gun just like Glock with DA striker action with NO manual safety and plastic frame now . There is 5 Gen of Glock's since it design in 1979 and not 1change to the design or improve to the gun in 38 years . There is 1000's of company's making different upgrades parts for those crappy Glock's . I love my 1911 but I like my Glock better

The Glock owner will normally run over 100,000 round before need any service like oil or clean it .

I have 4 glocks. Models 23, 26, 27 and 36 among many other brands. Never had a problem with a glock.
An old gunsmith buddy of mine said they were a shooting piece of plastic.

I am not a member of the Glock hater's association. I don't own one but have shot a 23 in .40 and a 30s in 45.
I was impressed with both as far as my ability to shoot them very well. I had read about the "grip angle" being different. And honestly they both felt about the same as my Ruger SR9c. Which I also shoot extremely well. I haven't tried a 9mm Glock because I don't need another 9. Got that covered with a Kahr CM9 and the Ruger. But I am still looking at a future carry gun in .45 and maybe .40 so Glock is currently high on that list.
Not the prettiest guns on the market but like any tool it needs to work well. I don't buy the prettiest hammer on the shelf either but I have some ugly ones that get the job done.
Knives are a different story....I like them to be pretty.

My very first gun was a NIB Glock - 9mm and I loved shooting it. I only bought NIB guns since I did not know if I would get a good or bad one. It was in the late 90's when I first got into buying and shooting my own guns. I only used a 'house gun' of my late husband's in a d/a revolver before I got 'into shooting' more.

I shot well for a Newbie at the range when the store owner and my late husband took me to the indoor range connected to the store and they explained more about the gun. That GLOCK pistol shot great right off of the bat. It was a tack driver and I never had any issues with it.

My late husband shot it and loved it. I did let a couple of our very close LE and military friends shoot it to see what they thought about it too. I used to save all of my targets for a few years too. So they saw my improvements as a Newbie at that indoor range and at my outdoor Sportsman's Club back east.

The GLOCK was and still IS my TOP favorite semi automatic pistol IF I still owned and shot handguns. I no longer own/carry/shoot ANY handguns due to my arthritis and old accident issues.

I only liked specific semi automatic pistols that worked for ME in my late 40's and up until I stopped shooting any handguns here in Montana several years ago. At 66 years old now and at a younger age I KNEW immediately if a GUN of any type worked for ME and if I liked it. I only liked very specific brands in guns too. I enjoyed and still enjoy looking at some other handguns but I always BOUGHT what worked for ME since I had that old injury to deal with and later on... arthritis.

There will always be people who don't like Glock pistols and some who do LOVE/LIKE them. To each their own!

I knew some people on OTHER forums from the 90's and on that I no longer read who were big time Glock Haters. One man used to be so rude and he put down Glock owners and the GUN itself! You could FEEL his nastiness come through the computer screen. Some of them in HIS clique were just as nasty - fact! I will leave it there.

I never found the Glock a poor fit for ME even with MY smaller but NOT tiny hands AND I owned and liked various name brands, quality made handguns in several different styles and larger calibers. I personally owned two other semi automatic pistols - Smith and Wesson Model 41 and 22A. My husband shot them too. He shot them more than me in the end. I owned SEVERAL Ruger s/a revolvers and Smith and Wesson d/a revolvers in various calibers and only a few RF ONLY rifles back east.

I owned other handguns and a few rifles out here in Montana too.

I only shoot a couple of rifles now and I may not (?) shoot them much longer too.

My late husband LOVED my Glock and a FEW of my other guns. There were some that he did not like to shoot as much too. They were not 'his thing'.

My Montana husband owns Glock and Kimber 1911 pistols. He even changed his EDC gun a few years ago to the Glock brand. He only owns those 2 pistol brands now.

He sold ALL of his other quality and name brand handguns including some very expensive CUSTOM guns and ALL of his s/a and d/a revolvers in various brands and calibers over the years. He has carried since the MT law allowed CCW. Open carry was and still is legal out here and he did and does that sometimes too.

He still loves his '45' caliber the most. Always did and always will! HIS pistols are in 45acp and he always LOVED 45 long colt in his FORMER s/a revolvers. He owned a LOT more calibers and total amount of guns than I ever did too!

My favorite semi automatic pistol would be a GLOCK 9mm - Model 19 if I still shot, carried and owned handguns. (Back east , my first one was in a Model 19C since they were out of the Model 19 when I bought my first gun. It worked a bit better for me at that time since my bad fall-accident was just a few years before I bought it. Now, I would just get a Model 19 if I still shot handguns. Plus I think that they quit making a Model 19C a couple of years ago too.)

My favorite s/a revolvers were in the Ruger brand.

My favorite d/a revolvers were in the Smith and Wesson brand.

That sweet, former 'house gun' of my late husband's that I knew and only shot a few rounds through was a famous d/a revolver Dan Wesson brand. I called it my 'house gun' and so did he.

Catherine ................ I found your post very interesting and well written . I had a gun shop many moons ago and I brought and sold a lot guns and took allow of Glocks in trade and I would take them to the range to test fire them before selling them . Never had one that didn't work or fire 100% . I'm not a 9MM fan and when the 40SW Glock came out I fell in love . DA/ double stack gun with 45 ACP fire power in a small frame to fit my hand . I love the extra round in my Glock and how much lighter it is loaded over a empty 1911 . If you can pull the trigger 1 time there is 100 company's making auto sears for under $100 for Glock and take less then 5 mins to install with no gunsmith needed . If illegal in your state . Don't point the gun at your tummy when repairing gun or conversion .

Sorry to be flooding every's posts with my pictures but thought I'd share my one and only Glock. It was the last pistol I purchased. I bought it 2 Saturday's before the election on the Saturday that I voted early.

After voting I went to the range to break in a couple other pistols and some how ended up walking out with the 19G4. I have no other Glocks to compare it to but it does what I need it to do. I'm pleased with my decision.

Yes ....I lived in Ca in 1958 to 1993 and the helmet law made give up motorcycle since I can't wear a helmet and then the gun law forced me to move and shut down my gun shop . Half the guns I owned where made illegal to own . So I retire at age 60 and moved to Az mountains and got me a motorcycle again and gave up my FFL . I had to move to Tn because of my dad In 1998 . The damp cold and hot humid weather force me to move me my dad to Tx . LOVE this weather in my part of Tx and the cost of living is cheap and I can live like a king on SS and bank money every month and I can buy anything I want or just piss it away if I want ..

Awhile back, a guy who is a member at our range was trying to decide which gun to buy to replace his Hi-Point.* He said people were advising him to buy a Glock, but he was reluctant. As far as he could tell (I guess from doing thorough internet research), Glocks just were not accurate. I stayed out of that one, but some poor younger guy took the bait, and tried to persuade him that he was full of it. It was all to no avail, though.

Since then, whenever we shoot Glocks at the range, if we do something good, the running joke is "man, I sure wish my Glock was accurate- think of how much better that target would be if I'd have had a good gun!"


*Seriously, his Hi-Point broke, and even though they have a life-time replacement warranty, he wanted something different.

My Glocks sucks when it come to accuracy . I just put these sights and stainless guide rod on this gun so I used a 6 o'clock hold to test fire the gun and see where the bullets are hitting . So hitting "X" ring was not important at that time . I've carried this gun everyday for over 10 yrs . It has NEVER had any hiccup like failure to feed , jams or miss fired EVER with any ammo I have put in it since I own it . It is not a target gun , but it will do head shots at 25 yds all day long if you do your job . The gun is only as good as the person shooting it .



Now I change the barrel to shoot lead in my Glock . I NEVER shoot lead and jacket bullets in the same barrel .

Im not knockin any of the polymer pistols. I only own one, a Shield in 45acp. I dont care for Springfields Glocks or Sigs. Ive owned all of them. I just dont do well with them so I got rid of them. The only one I can shoot worth a darn is a CZ 75b. Have one in a 40 and a 9. I like both of them. Other than that its 1911's at my house. Al

You must have big hands ..... I can't reach the DA mode of the trigger and the SA is not in the sweet spot of my trigger finger either .I love the Glock 9mm / 40SW frame it fit me perfect . The larger Glock frame of the 10mm / 45acp I can't shoot correctly , even the single stack .
