These are not Matchbox cars
I have collected Matchbox cars for a long time. A few Hot Wheels too. These two are definitely not either of those.
The company is called GreenLight toys. They make all different scale die cast replicas. The two NYC cars are 1/64 scale. The hoods open on both to reveal an engine. They are very detailed. I tried out my wide angle and macro add on lens for my Iphone for these shots. I think they did well. Of the two, I like the auxiliary car the best. It's just cool, mostly because I didn't know they had an auxiliary police force in New York City.

Very nice and detailed diecasts. I really enjoy looking at them, any diecasts. This is the only NYPD diecast that I have, a 1:24 scale 2007 Ford Crown Victoria by Motor Max. Hood and doors open. Note the shotgun secured between the seats. As long as Photobucket stays up, I had these in an old file. url=http://s1083.photobucket.com/user/bmoll ... t.jpg.html]

As long as we're talking diecasts, I just got this one from Lionel Racing. 2015 Tony Stewart Mobil 1 1:24 scale ARC, hood and doors open. Chevy SS.

Re: These are not Matchbox cars
That's what got me too. These cars are similar in size to a matchbox. They are a true 1/64 though. It always bothered me that Matchboxes and Hot Wheels were the same size basically.
I have a flatbed from the same company. It is realistically sized. It cost more too. The explorers are larger than the jeep, etc. The full sized pickups are very large compared to the cars. After all the years with Matchbox, it's hard to get used to. But the detail is there with every one.
Thanks for the links to the other diecast toys. The Corgi link was very informational. I have the Corgi Batmobile. A really cool car.

Sure brings back childhood memories! Growing up in Pittsburgh, we lived at the bottom of a hill....I had just left for the Air Force, so all my 'stuff' was moved to the basement. The house behind us had a broken water main and filled our basement to the rafters! My parents ended up tossing everything and moving! A lot of what now may have been collectible was lost!

Re: These are not Matchbox cars
I took these to show the different sizes of the vehicles in the proper 1/64 scale.

That's a really nice collection, Dave.
I have managed to find a Green Light Toys vendor over here. They really do make some superb models - I can see another hobby developing.

All are really so cool and that they go onto the truck. I love the jeep! Nice that you could get a Corning truck.

Yes, Corning is closer to me than NYC. When I saw it, I had to have it, so to speak.Deadwood Dutch wrote:All are really so cool and that they go onto the truck. I love the jeep! Nice that you could get a Corning truck.

Re: These are not Matchbox cars
Besides collecting guns, I also like to collect 1/32 scale slot cars, primarily Scalextric and Carrerra cars. I have a nice track, but most of them are just in the display case.

Re: These are not Matchbox cars
There used to be a slot car track near me. Some of the cars were so nice. The owners didn't mind if they crashed, they just repaired them. I saw a how to about making a slot car track. Just no room in the man cave. rhill, I'd like to see your collection if you get a chance.

Those are very cool cars DWD445. How big are they compared to a Matchbox car?
