Big Boy 45 colt question

Is Henry in the process of changing the twists on the 44 and 45s? That slow twist was open of my gripes with my Marlin 44 mag if I tried to push the big 300+ grain stuff thought it.

just curious, what brand of 44 mag were you shooting ? .... the picture below was taken back in April .... it was shot at 100 yards by our Henry 44 mag topped with a 3X9 Nikon at an indoor range in Missouri so wind was not an issue and we took our time .... we were shooting our hand loads made of 7.2 grains of Bullseye pushing 240 grain lead bullets from Missouri Bullet Company ....

I prefer to shoot a little heavier than a 240gr bullet in the 44 magnum. But those are some excellent groups.

And good news about your 45 colt being 1-16" twist. Still worries me that all the literature says 1-38".

My AR says the twist rate right on the barrel by the caliber. Any chance the Henry barrels list it too?

Ok I looked at my barrel and it's no where visibly printed unless it's under the handgaurd. Probably more important to print on AR barrels since they are interchangeable and often bought separately from the receiver.

Was cleaning 2011 b b 45colt cleaning rod said a little faster then 1 in 20
Shoots 360 wnfp at 1304 fps really we'll will have to check the 45 steel it
Has a 16" barrel

the henry 45 colt steel picked it up in sept 20161full turn in 16"
there you have it twist is 1x16 thats the facts

In my experience, the slower twist rate I had in a 44 mag Marlin doesn't necessarily mean it can't shoot the heavy stuff, well, just that it's not optimum. If someone has the older 1-38, just means you might have to do more tweaking with the heavy loads and bullets to get what you want.

That said, I would rather have a 1-16 in the rifle to match what I have in my Ruger Blackhawk. A local shop has a mint Marlin 1894 CB in 45 Colt, but it has the slower twist. Good price, too. Still holding out for a faster twist rifle, though. Hope the Henry is the one.

Emailed Henry there going to add the correct twist rate to the
45 colt which is not 1x38 hope they do this soon as I've see gun
