Range trip with DWF fellow member

Post by DWD445 » Fri Dec 30, 2016 9:05 pm

Met up with a friend I met through the Dan Wesson Forum last year. He lives about 10 miles from me and we use the same indoor range.
He has WAY more Dans then me, but really liked my Henry 44 :D
I had a lane to myself and shot mostly full range at 50'. I said before the lighting sucks especially at full range, so I brought my taclight and set it on the bench. Helps a lot. My 357Max sure smokes up the place
I'll get some pics soon of my target. Good Friday evening, last trip of the year :D
Kenn just had gotten a DW model 12 357 4" early 70s. He has over 20 DWs

Thanks, I would not say high power compair to Fed.or Win., my reloads. 240g JFP Berry's bullets and 11.9g CFE pistol. Good target loads. I hadn't tried them in the Henry yet, 11.4g was the last batch and the were VERY accurate. These seem good with a little more punch. I still prefer outside though, but any shooting beats a hour at work :D

10-4 .... until I started reading on this forum I'd only fired full power, jacketed hunting loads in our Ruger Redhawk 44 mag ..... I was firmly implanted in the "practice with what you hunt with" mindset .... since backing off on the powder charge and going to lead bullets I have found I shoot more and enjoy it more .... consequently, I've mentally divided my collection into two groups .... ones I don't shoot often enough to bother with coming up with a lighter load and ones that I do .... that seems to be working pretty well

JEBar
I have a 44mag and I know theres a load you can shoot at the range and hunt with. A 250swc or a 240swc and 10 grains of Unique will take care of anything you want to shoot with it and its a pleasant load to take to the range. Maybe you have tried it but its one I use all the time. Even shoots pretty well with a Hornady 240gr xtp. Al
