Triple Derringer Barrels -- a mini photo show
Triple Derringer Barrels -- a mini photo show
I was quite surprised today to get the .45LC/.410 barrel for my Bond Arms derringer in the mail. It came days in advance of the shipping turnaround time that BA had listed on their web page. Good CS at a busy holiday season!
Having these many choices sure does make this a caliber-versatile derringer!
I think I'll hold up this collection at three. Got to first wear these down a little! Barrel Calibers and Length
.357 Magnum/.38 Special, 4.25 inches
.45LC/.410, 3.5 inches
.22LR, 3 inches
Just for fun, hope you enjoy a few photos of my triple-barrel collection. They are all good quality & quite heavy stainless steel. Having these many choices sure does make this a caliber-versatile derringer!

What a great firearm, PT7. Congratulations on the new barrel and, of course, I look forward to your range reports! Very cool photos, by the way. Good job.

Appreciate that on my photos, CT_Shooter. I know your Photography Forum photos are excellent whenever you post here. It's nice being an amateur and to hear a very good photographer say "very cool photos." At the same time, I keep on working with my Nikon Cool-Pix 35mm, especially on close-up shots. I'm still trying to handle both the camera and lighting better.
As I took my photos today, I popped over to the BA barrels page to look at how many barrels BA offers. In my mind, I thought it was in the 14-16 range. I didn't realize there were so many options available. They listed their barrels as:
The holiday weekend approaches....have a good one!
Take care.

Reminds me just a little of DWs, but changing calibers is more unique. Cool set up!!!RanchRoper wrote:Sort of a "Swiss Army Gun". Very neat.
Are you itching to try the new barrel ?? Figures it came the same day as your range trip!!

Re: Triple Derringer Barrels -- a mini photo show
Yup, DWD, I am looking forward to trying out the .45LC and .410 calibers. I've never shot either one before.
The only new ammo I have so far is a 5-round box of Winchester Super X 2.5" 000-Buck. Next time I get out to our KS Cabela I will look for some cowboy loads in.45LC. In my last derringer Range Report, NCG chimed in with some suggestions on what to get and also what to watch out for when shooting .45LC using this smaller gun. She's experienced in shooting handguns in both of these calibers, so I appreciated the pointers.
Ah, a "little reminder" of a DW revolver. I still like to possibly get one someday....on my quite small wish list now.
Yes, the caliber changing for this derringer is somewhat unique. With the three barrels, I now have five caliber options! That is the fun part. With my first BA Snake Slayer derringer, I had the 9MM barrel along with the .357 Magnum. The 9MM was a blast to shoot also. If I were to add another barrel for this gun, the 9MM probably would be my choice. 9MM ammo is again somewhat reasonably priced and abundant. A big plus is that you don't very rapidly run through ammo using a SA O/U derringer!!

Nice choice of calibers. I would think the 38/357 compared to the 9 mm would be a tough call.

Right now, the .357/.38 special is easier to have for me. Since I've had my Ruger .357 revolver for some time now, my ammo stock in that caliber is good. There is not a single 9MM round in any of my ammo cans at the moment, and I'm not quite ready to handle another caliber.
But yes, the 9MM is a great round to shoot out of this derringer. Someday that barrel may join the others!

I have lots of 9MM but don't shoot it much anymore. Since I started shooting 38/357 I tend to shoot more of it.PT7 wrote:Right now, the .357/.38 special is easier to have for me.
