first day of winter

Post by bandit1250 » Mon Dec 19, 2016 7:49 pm

Tomorrow is the first day of winter and the wait for spring will be a long one. Some years it goes fast and other years it drags on. It seems to go better for me when we get some snow to take the wife and go with my Suzuki 4-wheeler up on the mountain and ride and get some winter time pictures. I have a while to wait for the drag strips to open around the end of February but I usually don't go much until it warms up some. I just really love the older Stock/Super Stock class cars almost as much as shooting. I don't race any more and when I was really in to it I was on two wheels instead of four. Here is what I like to go see at the drags. Watch it to the 3 minutes time and turn up your volume and listen to the big Hemi engine. You get a in car camera ride that is pretty neat.

Winter came roaring in here. We had a very mild fall, but a couple of weeks ago that ended abruptly. Spring is a ways off.

I sure don't find time dragging as I get older. The hands on the clock turn like a fan now. I measure winter by my hay bales, and the rows are noticeably moving.
12-14 weeks from now my horses will start shedding hair and calves will be dropping all over the place. Not long!

I ended up watching a few of the videos and I see the driver Jim Isherwood died this year.

Looks like he was one heck of a driver, RIP

Had a thaw, today, and it almost hit the freezing point. That's close enough for us to do some winter shooting and we did. Put a new Sig pistol to the test, today. Good to get out.

Had a cold front come through today. It got down to 75 degrees.

We'll be in the high 80's for christmas. :D

No white Christmas here, a high in the mid 40's and no snow predicted before that. I can handle that. I am sure some cold weather is on the way.

The journey from Runcorn to London went OK, although it rained all the way down and the traffic through London was horrendous ...... basically 'situation normal' . ;)

At least it's a few degrees warmer down here at 46°. :D

That was one straight run he made. The view from the inside showed he barely even moved the steering wheel.

Bandit, what sort of speed will he be doing at the end of the run?

Sun's been out for 3 days here and above freezing till next week. Rain & 40s for Xmas.
Still snow on the ground, but won't be much left by then.
It could come back Dec. 2017 for all I care
