Retirement Age

for me :

I've retired twice ... the first time at age 56 from working in NC's Prison System, the second at age 66 from working in RV Sales

I retired at 55, and I often wonder how I ever found the time to go to work. I thought I'd struggle to find things to do to keep me 'busy', but the opposite has been the case. There aren't enough hours in the day.

Perhaps I just, er ..... 'waste' too many hours thinking about/reading about/playing with and using guns.

I'll be 62 in April and thinking of retiring at the end of June or end of September!

I went out at 55.
Work slowed down to the point I told the boss it would take me a lot longer to go broke sitting at home than it would driving 23 miles to work every day so I quit.
Money is a little tight but no regrets.

Plan on retiring at age 62. 2 years and 6 months to go.

January 1, 2013 at the age of 62. I had just spent the previous 6 months recovering from spinal fusion surgery. I used up all of my accumulated sick and vacation time to reach that date. It took me a full two years for the bones to heal; regardless, I've never been without some degree of lower back pain since. And, though I'll never touch my toes again, I can walk more than a mile, which I couldn't do before the surgery. A slipped disc can actually cripple a person. Pain and all, I feel lucky to be this well.

Semi retired at age 48. I am 54 and a half. i have worked for myself since age 40. Good timing, life choices and investment's allowed me to slow down a lot since I've developed health issues. I am not rich. I am just sort of comfortable. My house is paid for, so is everything else. No real debits except medical bills that will come in forever. I get by ok.

I'm 43 now, hopefully by the time I'm 65. If investments and savings keep looking good.

I retired in 2003 at the old age of 54. I was a purchasing agent for an engineering company and was laid off in September but in October of the same year I was given a VA Disability. After a year I got bored and took truck driving school and drove long haul for a year. Not a good way to make a living but it was one of the best jobs I ever had. But then I drove the least amount that I could get away with.
