Remington Standard V Rimfire

Post by Sir Henry » Mon Jul 27, 2026 11:37 pm

I’m thinking of stocking up on these. I can get 550 rounds for $35. Thats just over six cents a round and a lot less than the sixteen cents I pay for CCI SV.

I've tried these a couple times, and the number of misfires was more than what I thought was acceptable. At least one in every 50 rounds, which worked out to two alibis in a rimfire 900 match. Granted, that was a decade or more ago. They shot great when they worked, grouped quite well, but the ones that didn't go bang were my issue. CCI has gone through their struggles too, especially ammo from about 5 years ago, but the newer stuff is way better, giving me only about one dud per brick.
If you are just plinking, and an occasional dud isn't costing you anything but a few seconds to get that one out and put another one in, then they group pretty good.

Those are 6 cents each here as well. But Standard Velocity CCI is 9 cents a round. CCI Quiet, Suppressor and Clean are in the 16 cent to 17 cent range. MiniMag are 11 cents.

I just need cheap plinking ammo. They were out even though they said they have them. The guy said that might mean they are on the truck for delivery. I might buy three loose bricks and test them. I’ve had bad luck with Thunderbolts and good luck with their hyper rounds.

I hope you find them accurate enough for that. I'd like to know if they are. I'd like to have a good alternative. A good while back I bought a brick of Federal Champion AutoMatch. They were crap shot from a rifle. I still have most of the brick. I sometimes shoot a few from a revolver at close range. Mostly I shoot CCI Shorts, Quiets and Standard in my revolvers and MiniMag in my rifle.

I’ve found the Federal AutoMatch to be poor ammo also. Yet their XM193 is the best. Most manufacturers make a superior product and also a dud. Think Edsel and Mustang.

I ended up ordering a case of the Remington Standard V. I hope they work. I like their HV shorts but don’t like much else.

I've never seen Federal Champion Auto-match.
Now the 325 bulk Federal Auto-match, I've bought a bunch of and have quite a bit on hand. They have shot fine in several different rifles, even in the cheap Henry. In fact while at WW yesterday I bought another, $19.99 + tax. ;)

Not terribly long ago, probably within the last three months, I bought a box of Remington Viper truncated cone HV ammo for testing in a Ruger SP 101. I haven't shot much of it but I was pleased that there were no duds in the small amount I shot.

I think it is the first Remington rimfire ammo I have bought in two decades because the last Remington rimfire ammo I bought, bulk pack golden bullets, was of such poor quality. Very poor quality.

I hope Remington is back on the road to producing good rimfire ammunition once again. More suppliers and more choices are always better.

I’ve had poor luck with Golden Bullets and and Thunderbolts. Vipers and Yellow Jackets are good.

It was 325 bulk pack I bought a couple of decades ago. That was my experience with it back then. I haven't shot much of it since then.
